Walnut Creek man also involved, arrested; victim who shot back not yet arrested

On Friday, July 14, 2023 around 7:45 PM Brentwood Police officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Marjoram Drive for a shooting that just occurred. A preliminary investigation suggests two males exchanged gunfire, both were hit by gunfire and transported to local hospitals for treatment, one of which sustained serious injuries.

Others were detained on-scene as part of the investigation. This was an isolated incident with no apparent threat to public safety and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

While a group of people were leaving a home on Chili Court in Brentwood, two suspects, a 17-year-old male resident of Antioch, and a 20-year-old male resident of Walnut Creek attempted to rob a 21-year-old male resident of Antioch, while all three were armed. All three exchanged gunfire on Marjoram Drive, striking the 17-year-old suspect and 21-year-old victim. The 20-year-old suspect was not injured. Three firearms were recovered at the scene.

The 21-year-old victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The teen later succumbed to his injuries.

The 20-year-old from Walnut Creek has been arrested but not the 21-year-old from Antioch, yet.

All names are being withheld at this time and there remains no threat to public safety. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time. 24-year-old killed, 21-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds transported to local hospital is in serious, but stable, condition.

On July 14, 2023, at 5:12 pm Pittsburg Police officers responded to the 2100 block of Crestview Lane after dispatch received a call of gunshots heard in the area. As officers were responding, a vehicle entered the Pittsburg Police Department parking lot and the driver summoned officers to his car. The officers stopped and found the driver and one passenger inside the vehicle, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered medical aid to the two men until paramedics arrived. Unfortunately, the passenger, a 24-year-old male of Antioch, did not survive. UPDATE: He was later identified as Trevon Richardson.

The driver, a 21-year-old male also of Antioch, was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in serious, but stable, condition.

As these officers were tending to the victims in the police department parking lot, more officers responded to the area of Crestview Lane where the original caller heard gunshots. This is where officers located evidence of a shooting. Detectives were called in and are actively working leads.

Due to this being an active investigation, the identities of the victims are being withheld and there will be no further information released at this time.

For Mokelumne Trail Overcrossing construction

BRENTWOOD, CA – In partnership with the City of Brentwood, the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) is constructing the Mokelumne Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing to provide safe access to cyclists and pedestrians for commuting and recreational travel, reconnecting two sides of the trail that were separated by the expansion of State Route 4.

This overnight closure will facilitate the removing of the temporary structure that was used to support the bridge and will impact State Route 4 in the eastbound direction. CCTA and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) have scheduled the closure during the early morning hours in order to minimize impacts to the motoring public.

In order to ensure crew and public safety during the planned construction work, a temporary nighttime freeway closure in the eastbound direction of State Route 4 will occur between Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9, 2023 on the following schedule (weather permitting):

Eastbound Highway 4 will be closed between Lone Tree Way and Sand Creek Road from 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 until 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2023. 

Detours
Detours will be in place to reroute drivers around the closure and are planned as follows:

Eastbound traffic will be directed to exit at Lone Tree Way, go eastbound to Shady Willow Lane, then southbound on Shady Willow Lane to Sand Creek Road, before proceeding westbound on Sand Creek Road to the eastbound State Route 4 on-ramp.

Future Freeway Closures

Additional overnight closures will be needed over the course of the next several weeks (weather dependent) to facilitate ­­­­construction work­­­­­­­­ of the future Mokelumne Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing. Additional information regarding dates and detours will be provided once the schedule is confirmed. This project is anticipated to be complete in late summer or early fall of 2023.

On June 26, 2023 at around 1:58 p.m., Brentwood PD officers responded to the 5600 block of Lone Tree Way to investigate a silent hold up alarm at the Patelco Credit Union. Upon officer’s arrival, it was determined what appears to be a Hispanic female adult passed a note to the bank teller demanding money. The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

At around 3:53 p.m., Antioch PD officers responded to the 2700 block of Lone Tree Way to investigate another silent hold up alarm at the Travis Credit Union. Upon their arrival, it was determined what appears to be the same female suspect passed a note to the bank teller again demanding money. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. Antioch PD Officers believe the suspect may have fled in a gray four-door Honda or Nissan with tinted windows. Thankfully, nobody was physically injured in either robbery.

Our agencies have since confirmed the same female suspect committed the pair of robberies; however, wore different clothing during each incident. The suspect was described to officers as a Hispanic female, early to mid-twenties, between approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, with brown hair. Do not approach the suspect if she is seen.

Nuhad Saba Levasseur, age 69, of Marietta, GA passed away on March 31, 2023. She was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1953 to Salih and Maggie Saba. She and her family moved to Castro Valley, CA when she was six years old. She studied music and became a professional singer, performing with bands and doing studio work for many years in the Bay Area. She met Michael Levasseur in 1984 and for 39 years they were married and built a beautiful life together with their four children. She opened her own voice studio and coached people of all ages how to sing. For 30 years she selflessly poured into her students’ lives and loved mentoring them in their passion for singing and pursuing careers in music. In her spare time, she enjoyed musical theater, singing on the church worship team and choir, spending time with her family and her 13 grandkids, entertaining people in her home, shopping and taking pictures. She had a passion for life, people, family, and her faith. She loved Jesus and loved telling people about her Savior. In 2018, she and her husband and two daughters along with their families moved to Marietta, GA. She loved living in the south and in during her four-and-a-half years there she built great friendships, continued vocal coaching, and made great memories with her husband and family.

Nuhad is preceded in death by her father Salih Saba, her mother Maggie Eaton, and her stepmother Cindy Saba. She is survived by her husband Michael Levasseur, her daughters Marissa Havens and Hillary Fowlie, her stepsons Jason Levasseur and Justin Levasseur, her son-in-laws Chad Havens and CJ Fowlie, her daughter-in-laws Stephanie Levasseur and Katie Levasseur. She is survived by her 13 precious grandchildren whom she adored: Faith, Lilly, Amelia, Cash, Ethan, Dawson, Kason, Stella, Quinn, Kylan, Andrew, Matthew, and Everly.

A celebration of life service was held in Atlanta, GA at Passion City Church Cumberland Campus, on April 29, 2023. There will also be a celebration of life service held at Golden Hills Community Church in Brentwood, CA on June 16, 2023, at 2:00pm.
