Cespregi Jr Poindexter II has been arrested for a drug-related shooting in December.

Cespregi Jr Poindexter II, 19, of Antioch has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 20-year-old man on Dec. 16 in  Knoll Park on Country Hills Drive

On Jan. 5 at approximately 6 a.m. Antioch Police Detectives and SWAT served a search warrant in the 4500 block of Deer Meadow Way and arrested Poindexter.  Antioch Police developed information during the investigation that Poindexter was the responsible in this shooting, according to a police press release.

Poindexter was arrested for attempted murder and robbery. A handgun was located in the residence that may be related to the shooting. Poindexter attempted to rob the victim after meeting at the location to purchase marijuana from the victim, according to police. Poindexter will be transferred to the Martinez Detention Facility.

The victim in this case has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries. Anyone with information regarding this investigation or suspect should call Det. Mortimer at (925)779-6941.

On December 29 just after 8 p.m., Antioch police responded to a report of a man shot at1504 Sycamore Drive. Police found Jason Alexander Reddic, 28, in front of the four-plex with at least one gunshot wound. At that time, Reddic was responsive but severely injured. Life-saving measures were taken and he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are currently interviewing several potential witnesses. At this time no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified. Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact Det. James Stenger at (925) 779-6894.

This was Antioch’s 15th homicide of the year and sixth in what has turned out to be a bloody December. The city has recently laid off six police officers from an already diminished force, with additional layoffs possible.

On December 18 just after 2 a.m., Antioch police dispatch received a call of a solo vehicle accident in the area of East 18th Street east of Hillcrest Avenue. Officers found a vehicle had crashed into a tree and a fence on the south side of the road. One of the occupants of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male Antioch resident, appeared to have suffered major injuries as a result of the collision.

He was transported to John Muir Medical Center and listed in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle, Robert Kilcourse, 18, was treated at Sutter Delta Medical Center for a minor injury and immediately taken into custody upon his release for suspicion of felony DUI, according to police. The other two passengers in the vehicle were uninjured. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

A 42-year-old Antioch woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver in the 2400 block of L Street on December 10 at 5:03 p.m., according to police.

As she was walking in the crosswalk, a car stopped to allow her to cross, but a newer model purple or dark blue mini-van went around the stopped car and struck the victim in the crosswalk. The woman suffered major head injuries, and was rushed to a local hospital where she died several hours later.

Police are still searching for the van. which fled onto westbound Highway 4. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Santiago Castillo at (925) 779-6933.

Lucio-Rivera-Avila is suspected of hitting and killing a woman with his vehicle.

On December 7 at 1725 Cavallo Road an Antioch woman was hit, dragged and killed by a person driving a late model silver 4-door Nissan Frontier pickup with a luggage rack on the cab, who then fled the scene. The suspect is Lucio-Rivera-Avila, 51.

At approximately 1:49 a.m. Antioch police responded to a report of a woman who had just been struck by a vehicle. Officers located a female victim with significant wounds lying in the roadway. Life saving efforts were initiated and she was transported to a local hospital where she was eventually pronounced deceased.

The victim had been heard arguing with a person in the parking lot at the location just prior to being dragged by the vehicle, according to police. The vehicle was last seen fleeing northbound on Cavallo Road.

On December 6 at 10:47 p.m, Antioch police received a call that a person had been shot in front of 4509 Bison Way in Antioch. The victim, a 40-year-old Oakland resident, had been sitting in his vehicle at this location waiting for a friend to come home.

He was approached by a male wearing a mask who pointed a gun at him. He stepped out of the vehicle and the assailant shot him in the abdomen. The shooter then jumped into his vehicle and fled the area. The stolen vehicle is a 2005 black Mercedes Benz 2-door. At this time it has not been recovered.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition with a non-life threatening injury. No other information is being released at this time.

Officers responded to the 2300 block of ‘L’ Street on Dec. 6 at 3:05 p.m. regarding reports of gunfire. Witnesses reported seeing several people in two vehicles fleeing the area and shots being fired.

Cory Ralls, 22, of Pittsburg, was a passenger in one of the vehicles that was struck several times by gunfire. Ralls was also struck by gunfire and he is being treated for his injuries. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Officers are following up on numerous leads and the investigation is ongoing. At this point, there are no descriptions being released for the involved vehicles.

On December 2 at 11:33 a.m. Antioch Police responded to the report of a child who had suffered a gunshot wound at a residence at 2405 Lemontree Court. Upon arrival they found a two-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the head. Life-saving measures were taken and the child was transported to the hospital where he was eventually pronounced deceased. A handgun was recovered from the bedroom.

The preliminary investigation into this incident has determined the child was in his parents’ bedroom with his 4-year-old brother, according to police. Their paternal grandmother was caring for them at that time and was in the living room area of the apartment. She heard a gunshot and the 4-year-old brother exited the room. The grandmother found the two year old boy in the bedroom with the gunshot wound. A neighbor who was outside the apartment heard the grandmother saying a child was shot and called the police.
