On March 11, 2023 at 11:24 am, the Antioch Police Department Communications Center received multiple emergency calls reporting a person shot at the Twin Creeks Apartments (1111 James Donlon Blvd). Responding officers located an adult male victim with at least one gunshot wound, who was transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. Officers learned the victim’s vehicle was carjacked by the suspect immediately after the shooting.

The suspect, wanted for aggravated assault – shooting and carjacking is unknown at this time and the victim’s name remains confidential.

This case is being investigated by our Violent Crime Investigations Unit. We are asking residents of the Twin Creeks Apartments to please check their surveillance cameras around the time of the incident (3/11/23 at 11:24 am) for anything unusual or suspicious. Same location of January shooting death

On February 9, 2023, at 8:42 pm, the Antioch Police Department Communications Center received an emergency call reporting a person shot in the parking lot of “The Spot” liquor store in the Sycamore Square center at 1108 Sycamore Drive in Antioch. Officers located a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound who was subsequently transported to a local hospital – and survived.

This case was assigned to our Violent Crimes Unit. Through investigation, detectives learned the victim was robbed at gunpoint and shot after fighting back. We are asking for public assistance to help us identify the three individuals in the attached photographs.

The victim’s name remains confidential.

Has history of arrests dating to 2014; police withhold identity of victim; nearby shooting previous Tuesday

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 4:39 am, the Antioch Police Department Communications Center received an emergency call reporting a person shot on East 6th Street. Officers responded and located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to his forearm. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in stable condition. Responding officers located a crime scene associated with the shooting near East 18th and ‘A’ Streets.

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 10:48 am, the Antioch Police Department Communications Center received a call reporting a male shooting at someone near the intersection of ‘A’ and West 6th Streets.

Responding officers deployed an unmanned aerial vehicle (“drone”) to assess the scene and located a male – identified as 29-year-old Antioch resident Michael Clark – running nearby. He was detained and a shotgun he attempted to hide was recovered.

The identify of the victim, also an Antioch resident, remains confidential.

Clark was arrested for various firearm related offenses, including aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is considered a person of interest in the shooting incident the previous day.

Both incidents are actively being investigated. Nearby Shooting on Previous Tuesday

According to residents another nearby shooting on Feb. 28 at about 12:30 p.m. occurred near 6th and F Streets.

“It was like the shootout at the OK Corral” said one neighbor who chose to not be identified. “A postal worker in the neighborhood had to duck for cover. The police came quickly. In a couple minutes.”

A bullet passed through the front door of one of the homes, the resident exclaimed.

Multiple gunshots can be heard on the ring video camera footage provided by one homeowner.

According to Antioch Police PIO Ashley Crandell that day, “There were no victims or suspects in that shooting. Shell casings were located.”

Has History of Arrests

According to localcrimenews.com Clark has a history of arrests dating back to 2014 by Contra Costa CHP, Martinez Police, Antioch Police and Contra Costa Sheriff’s Deputies, including for car theft, battery on a spouse/ co-habitant / former spouse, assault with a deadly weapon or with force likely to produce great bodily harm, receiving stolen property, carjacking, trespassing, assault with a deadly weapon not a firearm with likely great bodily harm to a peace officer or fireman, evading police and evasion with wanton disregard for safety, DUI, addict in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

Last year he was arrested by Antioch PD on March 21 for being a felon in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. Then the next day Clark was arrested again for assault with a deadly weapon or with force likely to produce great bodily harm and making threats of violence.

Another illegal unregistered firearm seized by Officer Milner. Last night, March 6th, at around 6:50 pm Officer Milner stopped a vehicle near Days Inn on Auto Center Drive for several vehicle code violations. The driver was a 19-year-old male who lived in Richmond.

Officer Milner saw the pictured marijuana in plain view and knew the driver was under the age of 21, which is a violation of Health and Safety code 11357. Officer Milner searched the vehicle and the driver. The pictured firearm was in his possession, and he was arrested for various firearm related offenses.

To evaluate reforms, in coordination with state Department of Justice

The BART Police Department and the California Department of Justice (Cal DOJ) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) to work with BART PD to independently evaluate the reforms put in place by BART PD and the BART Board of Directors, with the goal of improving BART PD policies where applicable and providing documented reports of BART PD’s progress to the community.

BART riders and community stakeholders are invited to register for and participate in a Zoom session this Thursday, March 9 at 6:30 pm where members of the evaluation team will hear the perspectives of community members on their relationships with BART PD. The listening session will include a virtual community meeting with breakout sessions.

An Antioch woman who is suspected of making threats to a private school in Walnut Creek is in custody. Walnut Creek Police Detectives and the Central County SWAT Team served a search and arrest warrant at 33-year-old Danielle Nye’s residence in Antioch last night. Detectives ultimately arrested Ms. Nye for PC 422 – Criminal Threats.

On February 28th, Contra Costa Christian Schools (CCCS) reported to Walnut Creek Police Department (WCPD) that they received numerous emails and voicemails from an unknown person who spoke of vague threats of violence toward the school. Officers worked to identify and locate the sender and to determine if there were any credible threats.

On March 1st, CCCS notified WCPD that they received more emails, and the threatening language had escalated. One email contained a photo of an apparent rifle.

Based on the continuing threats, behavior of the caller, and the photo of the weapon, CCCS sent students in after-school classes home early on March 1st. Walnut Creek Police searched the campus and found no evidence of weapons or threats to staff or students. Out of an abundance of caution, CCCS cancelled all classes for March 2nd.

At this time, there is no known threat to CCCS’ staff or students. It appears this was an isolated incident, and WCPD will continue follow up investigation to confirm no one else was involved. It is unknown what, if any, connection Ms. Nye has to CCCS.

She was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and remains in custody on $25,000 bail. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Walnut Creek Police Department at 925-943-5844 or call the Anonymous Tip Line at 925-943-5865.

In response to the news that Antioch’s public information officer, Rolando Bonilla was fired, recently Antioch Police Officers Association President Rick Hoffman posted the following statement on the organization’s Facebook page Thursday evening:

“The APOA has learned that the contract for the City of Antioch PIO, Rolando Bonilla, was terminated sometime in the past week. The APOA is pleased to see that steps were taken to rectify the wrongs done by Mr. Bonilla to our department and we hope to foster a culture of transparency throughout the city’s departments.”
