On Friday, January 18, 2013 at approximately 10:51 p.m., Antioch police officers heard shots being fired in the area of East 16th Street and A Street. As officers were en route, citizens began calling dispatch reporting shots being fired on E16th Street and on Marie Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located approximately 14 expended shell casings in the area and an unoccupied vehicle that crashed into the front yard of a residence in the 1600 block of Marie Avenue.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that an adult male patron of a local bar/restaurant started a fight with other patrons. The male fled in his vehicle while the other subjects chased him in their vehicle, shooting at him.

There were no reported injuries and the investigation is ongoing.

A 15 year-old and a 9 year-old were riding separate dirt bike motorcycles in a dirt lot at the dead end of Drive-In Way, when they collided with each other on the afternoon of Saturday, December 29, 2012. Both riders were wearing appropriate protective gear and helmets at the time of the collision and there were adults on scene providing supervision.

Both riders went down but the 9 year-old was severely- injured. He sustained major head trauma and was rushed to SDMC by a parent. The 15 year-old had a complaint of pain only. The 9 year-old was flown to Children’s Hospital in Oakland after he was stabilized at Sutter Delta Medical Center and is in critical condition at the time of this writing. The collision is still being investigated and this is the only information being released at this time.

On Friday, December 28, 2012 at approximately 2:02 p.m., Antioch police were dispatched to a vehicle accident near 810 Wilbur Avenue. Upon arrival they found the victim had been run over by her own vehicle and was still pinned underneath.

The Contra Costa Fire Department (Con-Fire) responded and extricated the victim from the vehicle. The 60 year-old Antioch woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by Con-Fire shortly after extrication.

Our preliminary investigation indicates she was working under the vehicle when it slipped into gear and ran her over.

On the Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 1:56 p.m., the Antioch Police Department was dispatched along with Contra Costa Fire Department for a smoke investigation call at 1415 G Street. Witnesses also reported seeing the male resident walk out of this location with burns to his hands and leave in a car. The 53 year-old male resident, Frank Trout, showed up at Sutter Delta Medical Center a short time later with burns to his hands and face admitting the injuries were a result of an accident he caused while making pipe bombs.

The Antioch Police Department closed the intersecting streets at this location and evacuated all residents in danger, then called for the assistance of the Walnut Creek Police Department’s Bomb Squad. The bomb technicians located and disposed of an undisclosed amount of explosive devices and explosive making materials rendering the residence safe. Frank Trout was released from the hospital and transferred to the Sheriff’s Department’s main detention facility in Martinez.

On Friday, December 21 at approximately 12:54 a.m., Antioch Police officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at the Bonfare Market at 907 West 10th Street in Antioch. As officers were responding to the store an officer noticed a vehicle leaving the area. Officers lost sight of the vehicle, but found it moments later unoccupied, crashed, and on fire on Highway 4 behind the 600 block of West Tregallas Road.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter and located a male in a yard in the 2700 block of D Street. After a brief struggle, the male was taken into custody and later transported to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The male will be booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of robbery and assaulting a police officer. The investigation is ongoing.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at approximately 8:02 AM, the Antioch Police Department SWAT Team assisted the Antioch Police Investigations Bureau in serving a search warrant at an apartment on Lemontree Court in the City of Antioch. Also taking part in this warrant service were members of the Contra Costa County SWAT Team with their Armored Tactical Vehicle. This search warrant was connected to some of the recent violent crime in the Sycamore area. The SWAT Team arrested a 25-year-old male at the location.

On Monday, December 10, 2012 at 10:17 a.m., the Antioch Police Department received numerous 911 calls from persons reporting a drive-by shooting in the area of Mandarin Way and Mahogany Way. Upon arrival, police officers located two victims on scene that had been shot. Both victims sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds and both were transported to undisclosed area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The victims, whose names have not been released, were identified as a 28 year-old Antioch man, and a 26 year-old Richmond man.

The suspects are still outstanding and the investigation is on-going. No further information will be released at this time. Anyone having information on this shooting is encouraged to contact Acting Sergeant Castillo at (925) 779-6933.

On Sunday, December 9, 2012 at approximately 1:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on West 17th Street in Antioch. The resident called to report a suspicious male on his front porch. Upon arrival at the residence officers located the male on the front porch and determined he had been stabbed multiple times. Officers provided medical assistance until emergency medical personnel arrived.

Officers were able to determine where the stabbing occurred, but that information is not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing and there is no suspect information available. The victim is in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.
