On October 16th, 2015 at approximately 7:37 AM, Antioch Police Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of “G” St for a possible kidnapping. An employee of Sutter Elementary School was on her way to work and noticed an 11-year-old female student in the front seat of a vehicle with an adult male. The employee was familiar with the female and knew that the male was not related to her. The employee used her own vehicle to block in the responsible, and contacted the police.

Arriving officers contacted and detained the male, identified as 51-year-old Santiago Salazar of Brentwood. It was determined through interviews that Salazar was not known to the victim. He followed her as she was walking to school and lured her over to his vehicle. The victim walked over to Salazar’s vehicle and he opened the passenger door from inside. As they continued to talk, Salazar grabbed the victim by the wrist and pulled her into his vehicle. It was at this point the Sutter Elementary employee intervened.

Salazar was arrested for kidnapping and was booked into Contra Costa County Jail.

On Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 10:28 AM, the Antioch Police Department received calls of a two vehicle collision in the intersection of Davison Drive and Sunset Lane where one of the drivers was unresponsive. Upon arrival of medical personnel, a 33-year-old male resident of Antioch was found under the passenger side dashboard. He had sustained apparent head injuries in the collision and was transported to the regional trauma center for treatment. He was listed in serious condition.

Investigating officers determined that the victim was driving his vehicle south on Sunset Lane. He pulled out in front of oncoming traffic and collided with a Toyota Tacoma truck. The victim was unrestrained in the driver’s seat and was thrown under the passenger dashboard as a result of the collision. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

On October 15th, 2015 at approximately 9:03 AM, Antioch Police Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Miller Street for an auto theft in progress reported by an alert neighbor.

Arriving officers were able to interrupt the vehicle theft and detained an adult male at the scene. The male was identified as Gary Worthington, a 36-year-old Antioch resident.

An adult female fled from officers in her own vehicle, leading them on a vehicle pursuit towards Highway 4. The female lost control of her vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue near Renwick Lane and collided with a light pole in the median. The female fled on foot from her vehicle but was quickly apprehended. She was identified as Nicole Wade, a 30-year-old Pittsburg resident.

Both subjects were booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for charges including felony auto theft, evading, and probation violations.

From Antioch City Manager Steve Duran’s Weekly Report, dated 10/9/15, as provided by Police Chief Allan Cantando:

– On 10/8/2015 at 2:31 a.m., an AMR Paramedic Unit called dispatch to report a vehicle resting on the curb at Hillcrest Ave. and Larkspur Dr. Officers responded and contacted 27 year old Melissa Doronila in the vehicle. Officers noted both of the driver side tires were missing and only the rims remained. The investigation determined she was under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested for DUI. Doronila had apparently driven for several miles on two rims. Her tires were later located on Hillcrest Ave and Country Hills Dr., however there was no obvious indication of what caused the tires to come off the rims. There were no other witnesses to her driving on Hillcrest Avenue. Doronila was booked at the county jail.

– On 10/7/2015 at 7:32 p.m., officers responded to Sutter Delta Memorial Hospital regarding a 13 year old girl with a gunshot wound to the hand. The juvenile claimed earlier in the day that she found a revolver in a bathroom at a middle school. She placed the revolver in her backpack and kept it all day. When she got to her home in Antioch, she was going to show the firearm to her grandmother and accidentally shot herself in the hand. Officers responded to the home and recovered the revolver. The 13 years old girl has long list of police contacts and arrests, as well as a pending juvenile case. She was arrested for weapons related charges and booked at juvenile hall. Officers continue to investigate ownership of the firearm as well as how the girl obtained the weapon.

– On 10/7/2015 at 1:01 a.m., officers responded the 1300 block of Mission Dr. regarding a suspicious circumstance where some subjects had gotten out of a car and climbed over a fence into a rear yard of a residence. Officers found a 14 year old male juvenile hiding in the vehicle, but the other subjects were not located. The juvenile’s parent was contacted and it was learned that he had stolen the car from his grandmother and drove to Antioch. He was arrested and released to his mother for auto theft and violation of juvenile curfew.

– On 10/7/2015 at 12:31 a.m., an officer saw a suspicious vehicle at the Economy Inn on E. 18th St. A records check on the license plate number revealed the vehicle was reported stolen out of Pittsburg. The vehicle drove out of the parking lot and an enforcement stop was made at Biglow Dr. and Kean Ave. Carlos Montanez, 30 years old, was identified as the driver and 46 year old Mario Hernandez was a passenger. Montanez and Hernandez were arrested without incident. Montanez was booked at the county jail for auto theft related charges as well as an outstanding arrest warrant for child endangerment. Hernandez was released pending further investigation.

– On 10/6/2015 at 5:59 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop at W. 10th and “L” streets. The driver was identified as 60 year old Whitney Jacobs. Upon running a routine records check of Jacobs, he was found to have several outstanding arrest warrants for felony and misdemeanor charges including petty theft, failing to properly register as a sex offender and violation of probation. He was taken into custody without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/6/2015 at 9:50 a.m., officers assisted Code Enforcement with multiple encampments in the open space to the rear of 1620 Sycamore Dr. While doing so, officers contacted 41 year old Marcella Martin. A records check indicated she had an outstanding arrest warrant charging burglary, forgery and possession of stolen property. Martin was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/6/2015 at 8:55 a.m., officers responded to 901 Rotherham Dr. regarding trespassers attempting to move into a vacant home. Officers located 46 year old Derek Jones, 56 year old Katherine Adams, 30 year old Clayton Dortzbach and 30 year old Jeremy Robinson inside the residence. The homeowner was contacted and placed them under citizen’s arrest. Katherine Adams also had an outstanding arrest warrant for petty theft. All of the subjects were released on promises to appear. Code Enforcement red tagged the residence as there was no water or power to the house.

– On 10/5/2015 at 6:21 p.m., an officer made a traffic stop at W. 10th and Diamond Streets. The officer ran a records check on the driver, 31 year old Mysunn Turner. Turner had an outstanding arrest warrant issued in Nevada County for exceeding the speed limit and driving on a suspended license. Turner was issued a new court date and released from the scene.

– On 10/5/2015 at 5:10 p.m., an officer was patrolling near Lemontree and Peppertree Way and saw 26 year old Robert Lay driving recklessly though the area. Lay continued to drive erratically while the officer attempted to catch up to him. Lay hit a parked car and eventually pulled into the 76 gas station on Contra Loma Blvd. Officers made contact with Lay and detained him. A records check revealed he had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for the charge of possession of stolen property. Lay was arrested for the warrant, hit and run and reckless driving. Lay’s vehicle was impounded and he was booked at the county jail.

– On 10/5/2015 at 4:24 p.m., detectives were in the 1000 block of W. 9th St. They observed 31 year old Michael O’Brien and a 22 year old female arguing. O’Brien threw a large rock at the female and it struck her in the back. Detectives detained O’Brien and placed him under arrest without incident. Officers responded and took over the investigation and custody of O’Brien, who was later booked at the county jail for assault with a deadly weapon. The female suffered minor injuries.

– On 10/5/2015 at 10:13 a.m., an officer contacted 31 year old Miranda Mirati, who was standing in front of the Rite Aid store at 20 E. 18th St. A records check indicated she had an outstanding arrest warrant for petty theft. Mirati was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/5/2015 at 8:39 a.m., officers responded to the Bedford Center at 1811 “C” St. on a report of subjects refusing to leave. When officers arrived, they contacted 37 year old Jacque Watts. A records check revealed Watts had an outstanding no bail arrest warrant for being a parolee at large. Watts was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/4/2015 at 10:53 p.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of E. 13th St. regarding a disturbance. Officers contacted 37 year old Barton Ramsey at the location. A records check indicated he had an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance. He was issued a new court date and released.

– On 10/4/2015 at 7:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Drake St. for a welfare check of a male who was standing in the middle of the street. Officers arrived and contacted 18 year old Eric Bell. A records check indicated he had an outstanding arrest warrant for auto theft and assault with a deadly weapon. Bell was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/4/2015 at 4:35 p.m., officers responded to 1006 W. 7th St. on the report of a suspicious occupied vehicle parked at the location. The license plate of the vehicle was provided to dispatch and a records check revealed it had been reported as a stolen car. Upon their arrival, officers contacted 26 year old Curtis Brown in the driver’s seat and a 17 year old female in the passenger seat. Brown and the female were taken into custody without incident. The female originally gave the name of her adult sister who had a warrant out of Sonoma County. The female was fingerprinted and her true identity was confirmed. A records check on the juvenile female indicated she was a runaway from Sacramento County. Brown was booked at the county jail on auto theft charges and violation of probation. The female was booked at juvenile hall on charges of auto theft and using a false name.

– On 10/4/2015 at 1:35 a.m., officers responded to Sutter Delta Medical Center at 3901 Lone Tree Way regarding a subject refusing to leave the property. When officers arrived, they contacted 22 year old Ronnel Jones. A records check revealed that Jones had two outstanding arrest warrants for possession of a controlled substance and attempted robbery. Jones was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/4/2015 at 12:12 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of “A” and 18th Streets. The officer saw 33 year old Jean Higby walking in the area. Knowing her from priors contacts, the officer conducted a records check and found she had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for auto theft. The officer made contact with Higby and took her into custody without incident. Higby was booked at the county jail.

– On 10/3/2015 at 6:38 p.m., an officer was on a call at 3421 Hudson Ct. The officer saw 19 year old Richard Palacio, whom he recognized from a prior threats investigation. Palacio had fled prior to police arrival on the threats investigation so the officer contacted him. Based on the previous reports of Palacio being armed with a gun, the officer pat searched him and recovered a loaded 9mm semi auto pistol that had been reported stolen in San Jose. Palacio was taken into custody without incident and booked at the county jail for weapons violations and possession of stolen property.

– On 10/3/2015 at 5:50 p.m., an officer was patrolling the 1000 block of “F” St. in a police vehicle equipped with an automated license plate reader. He received an alert on a stolen car. The officer located the stolen vehicle and conducted a stop. The driver, 28 year old Vernon Smith, was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/2/2015 at 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Badger Pass Way regarding a male holding a knife. A caller reported the male, 53 year old Richard Higgins, had threatened to cut his (the caller’s) throat with a knife. Higgins was located standing on the sidewalk, holding a razor blade knife. Higgins was ordered several times to drop the knife and he responded by telling officers he would not do so and that they should just shoot him. The standoff went on for a few minutes and Higgins finally agreed to place the knife on the ground. Higgins was told several times to step away from the knife but he refused. Higgins was taken to the ground in order to get him away from the knife. A struggle ensued and Higgins was handcuffed and secured. Higgins did not live in the area and was found to be heavily intoxicated. He was booked at the county jail on charges of making threats, drunk in public, resisting arrest and violation of probation. He was found to be on probation for DUI.

– On 10/2/2015 at 8:38 a.m., an officer contacted 43 year old Gary Duarte on “A” St. near Railroad Ave. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. Duarte was issued a promise to appear for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and released.

– On 10/1/2015 at 9:18 a.m., officers responded to 2300 Sycamore Dr. on the report of vandalism and restraining order violation. The victim identified 46 year old Sandra Rosemon as the person who had thrown a rock at a window. Rosemon was located a short distance away and was arrested for vandalism and violation of a court order. Rosemon also had five outstanding arrest warrants charging vandalism, violation of a court order, theft, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. She was booked at the county jail.

– On 10/1/2015 at 8:29 a.m., officers contacted 32 year old Frank Mercado on Sunset Dr. near Diablo Ave. A records check revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant for the charges of auto theft and failing to yield to a police vehicle. Mercado was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

At a ceremony at the Antioch Police Facility, Monday afternoon, Justin Hamilton took the oath of office to be sworn in as Antioch’s newest police officer. Hamilton was administered the oath by Antioch Mayor Wade Harper, and then his badge was pinned on him by his wife.

“I’d like to thank the Chief and the command staff,” Hamilton said. “ I worked at AMR, out here for nine years,” referring to the American Medical Response ambulance company.

“This was always my end goal,” he added.

Then, Chief Allan Cantando offered his thoughts, directing them to Hamilton’s family.

“If I were to be going through the training program, again I would definitely want the men and women of this department to be the ones training me,” he stated. “They have his best interest in mind. Jason is an asset to us that we don’t want to lose. We want him to get through the field training.”

“We are hoping that Justin will be a very welcome part of our staff,” he added.

The brief ceremony was attended by Hamilton’s family members and fellow Antioch police officers, as well as Antioch Mayor Pro Tem Lori Ogorchock, Council Members Monica Wilson and Tony Tiscareno, and City Manager Steve Duran. It was followed by a brief reception that included a cake.

According to Cantando, that now brings the total of sworn officers on the Antioch police force to 90.

On September 8, 2015, the Antioch Police Department arrested 38-year-old Antioch resident, Edward Robinson on a parole violation. Robinson, at the time, was a suspect in this homicide investigation where a 23-year-old Antioch resident, Kartiae Ely was shot in the driveway of an apartment building in the 1800 block of Cavallo Road, on

September 6, 2015, and subsequently died from his injuries.

On September 29, 2015, Antioch Police Investigators took 34-year-old Antioch resident, William Pree into custody without incident for his involvement in this homicide as well.

On Thursday, October 1, 2015, Antioch PD Investigators presented this case to the Contra County Office of the District Attorney. The DA filed one count of Murder and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm against both Robinson and Pree. Both are being held on $2,020,000 bail.

From Antioch City Manager Steve Duran’s Weekly Report, dated 10/2/15, as provided by Police Chief Allan Cantando:

– Due to the recent large scale fire, a Mutual Aid request was made by Lake County for assistance with police services. Several Antioch Police Officers were sent to assist on various shifts during the week. Their efforts were focused on providing high profile patrols in an effort to deter looting and provide security to residents who were being allowed to return to their homes.

– On 10/1/2015 at 4:57 a.m., officers responded to a report from a 911 caller of hearing sounds as if someone was attempting to cut metal on the property at 725 Fulton Shipyard Rd. Officers approached on foot and found 46 year old Mitchell Lockwood was on the property. Lockwood had blue paint all over his legs and when questioned, he claimed he was on his way fishing. A check of the property and the surrounding area resulted in officers locating pipe with a blue coating that Lockwood had stolen and tossed over a perimeter fence. He was arrested and later released on a promise to appear for the charges of trespassing and theft.

– On 9/30/2015 at 10:43 p.m., officers responded to Starbucks at 1896 “A” St. regarding a 911 caller reporting a male down on the sidewalk with his body partially in the street. Officers arrived and located 38 year old Ricky Earl. It was determined he was intoxicated. A records check revealed he was a registered sex offender out of the State of Nevada. Officers were able to establish Earl had been in California since 9/10/2015 and had not registered in this state. He was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender and being drunk in public. He was booked at the county jail.

– On 9/30/2015 at 1:20 p.m., 38 year old Taekwondo Maxwell arrived at the police department to update his sex offender registration. A routine records check revealed he had an outstanding arrest warrant with a $65,000 bail on the charge of burglary. He was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 9/30/2015 at 10:56 a.m., officers responded to several reports of a submerged vehicle at the marina boat ramp at 10 Marina Pl. The vehicle was completely submerged. Witnesses advised there was no one in the passenger compartment. A tow service responded and recovered the vehicle from the water. It was confirmed to be unoccupied. Registration checks indicated it was registered in Utah. Officers followed up with Utah authorities in an effort to determine if the vehicle was stolen or involved in other crimes. At approximately 6:20 p.m., a subject arrived at the police department and identified himself as the driver of the submerged vehicle. He explained to officers he was unfamiliar with the area and accidentally drove the vehicle down the ramp and into the river. He panicked and fled from the area.

– On 9/30/2015 at 5:14 a.m., officers responded to a suspicious circumstance at the Sinclair Fuel Mart at 3720 Lone Tree Way. When they arrived they contacted 29 year old Jeffrey Harrison. A records check revealed Harrison had warrants for robbery and petty theft. He was arrested without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 9/29/2015 at 12:37 p.m., officers responded to the Valero Gas station at 2310 “A” St. after employees reported a suspicious person yelling at people and jumping up and down on the roof of the neighboring store. Officers found Jarred McCoy, 35 years old, jumping up and down on the roof while making animal sounds. McCoy was convinced to climb down and he was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and booked at the county jail.

– On 9/30/2015 at 12:35 a.m., an officer saw a vehicle backed into a parking stall in the parking lot of Jack in the Box at 2505 “A” St. There was a male and a female in and about the vehicle. A check of the license plate revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen. The officer made contact with the subjects, 23 year old Jessica Mercado and her brother, 24 year old Arron Mercado. Both were arrested without incident. Jessica was also in possession of methamphetamine. Arron was later released pending further investigation. Jessica was booked at the county jail.

– On 9/29/2015 at 11:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Hillcrest Avenue and E. 18th St. on a report of a vehicle swerving on the road. An officer saw the vehicle and performed an enforcement stop. The driver, 56 year old Lindell Abercrombie, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. Abercrombie blew into a PAS device which indicated a blood alcohol content of .126%. Abercrombie was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 9/29/2015 at 7:58 a.m., officers were dispatched to Hillside Rd. and Roosevelt Ln. regarding a request for a welfare check of a man on the ground that appeared to be having difficulty standing up. The man was next to a running vehicle. Officers arrived and found 35 year old John Oliphant attempting to drive away from the area in his car. He was clearly under the influence of a controlled substance and is on felony probation for narcotics sales. He was contacted and found to be in possession of heroin in a syringe. Oliphant was arrested and booked at the county jail.

– On 9/27/2015 at 4:29 a.m., an officer stopped an older Honda with dealer plates at W. Madill and “G” Street. The officer observed the driver, 39 year old Areill Hernandez, remove a house key from the ignition. A records check revealed that on 9/17/2015 the Honda was reported stolen in Antioch. Hernandez and two occupants were arrested without incident. Hernandez and one of the passengers, 39 year old Benjamin Jimenez, were booked at the county jail on auto theft charges. The remaining passenger, a 33 year old male, was released pending further investigation.

– On 9/26/2015 at 6:02 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a pickup displaying Arizona license plates. He had observed the vehicle run the stop sign at W. 2nd Street and “I” Street. The vehicle yielded and the officer made contact with the driver, 47 year old Shawna Hudson-Strock. A records check revealed that the pickup was reported stolen. Later when interviewed, Hudson-Strock claimed she borrowed the vehicle and was unaware it was reported stolen. All of the vehicle decals had been removed. Hudson-Strock had prior convictions for auto theft. She was booked at the county jail.

– On 9/26/2015 at 8:06 a.m., an Antioch Animal Control Officer observed 24 year old Nathan Freeman in the 800 block of W. 2nd St. harassing wild turkeys. The officer asked him to stop and Freeman told her that he would “blast” her and reached near his waistband as if he had a firearm. Police officers responded and attempted to detain Freeman. He was uncooperative and refused to comply with officers orders. Freeman was forced to the ground and placed under arrest. Freeman was also found to be on probation. Freeman was booked at the county jail for making threats against an animal control officer and violation of probation.

– On 9/25/2015 at 11:52 p.m., officers responded to a call of a man with a gun in the 200 block of Wilbur Ave. A male was seen placing a gun on the hood of the SUV and was in the company of another person. When officers arrived, they saw the SUV leaving the apartment complex. Officers attempted to stop the SUV but the driver, later identified as 28 year old Andrew Yeager, failed to yield. Officers pursued the SUV until it collided with a vehicle at the intersection of SR HWY 4 and “A” Street. Yeager fled from the vehicle while a passenger, 40 year old Kavita Johnopolous, remained inside. Yeager was apprehended a short distance away and found to have numerous outstanding arrest warrants issued in Alameda County for burglary and weapons violations. An extensive search was conducted but no gun was located in the car. The driver of the vehicle struck by the SUV was transported to the hospital and later treated and released for minor injuries. Johnopolous was found to be in possession of a firearm, which was a .22 cal. pistol. He was also transported to the hospital for treatment. Yeager was booked at the county jail on his warrants, violation of probation and failing to yield for a police vehicle.

– On 9/25/2015 at 11:07 p.m., officers responded to 1214 Sycamore Dr. regarding several calls of a vehicle striking the building. When officers arrived, they located a vehicle that had struck a PG&E box but did not actually strike the building. The vehicle was unoccupied and the collision caused a power outage in the area. Due to an exposed transformer, the area was cordoned off. Within a few minutes the transformer exploded. PG&E responded and police impounded the vehicle. The hit and run investigation identified a suspect who is still outstanding.

– On 9/25/2015 at 11:00 p.m., 43 year old Monica Esquivel was contacted at the Valero Gas Station at 2310 “A” St. A records check revealed she had an outstanding arrest warrant with a bail of $80,000 for failing to appear on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the county jail.

– On 9/25/2015 at 3:04 p.m., officers contacted 31 year old Floyd Andrews during a traffic stop as he left a house on Bryan Ave. Andrews had an outstanding arrest warrant for a robbery he committed in Antioch in 2013. Andrews was arrested without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 9/25/2015 at 1:02 p.m., officers responded to Deer Valley High School at 4700 Lone Tree Way to investigate the report of a student in possession of a high capacity pistol magazine. The investigation determined a 15 year old student brought the unloaded Glock pistol magazine to school. No firearm was located during the investigation. The student was issued a citation and released to his parents.

– On 9/25/2015 at 3:46 a.m., officers responded to a solo vehicle accident at Deer Valley Road and Asilomar Drive. The investigation revealed 19 year old Jonathan Sokoya was driving southbound on Deer Valley Road when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree in the center median. The tree was knocked down and public works personnel had to respond. Sokoya’s car sustained major damage, but he was uninjured. He was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Sokoya was arrested for DUI. He was later issued a promise to appear and released.

– On 9/24/2015 at 6:13 p.m., an officer observed 49 year old Timothy Jones behind the Chevron gas station at 3201 Delta Fair Blvd. The officer could see him holding a spoon and placing a brown object onto it. When Jones saw the officer, he threw the substance in a nearby planter box. Jones was detained and the substance was recovered and determined to be heroin. Jones was also exhibiting symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked at the county jail for possession of heroin and being drunk in public.

– On 9/24/2015 at 3:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Valero Gas Station at “A” Street and Rossi Ave. on the report of a male passed out in a vehicle. Upon their arrival, officers located 33 year old Paul Brennan still sitting in a car. He was in fact asleep and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for DUI. He was booked at the county jail.

– On 9/24/2015 at 8:10 a.m., a concerned citizen called dispatch to report a male searching through the garbage cans on Jarosite Ct. A suspect description was provided by the caller and when officers arrived they located 28 year old Jared Jeffrey searching in cans on the street. A warrant check was conducted and Jeffrey was found to have a $5,000.00 dollar arrest warrant for failure to comply with the terms of his probation. Jeffrey was arrested and booked at the county jail.

– During the 9/24/2015 dayshift, a special detail was conducted in order to focus on traffic related issues in the city. The team issued a total of 118 traffic citations; made 6 attempts to serve DUI arrest warrants; issued 4 loitering/panhandler citations; made 1 felony DUI arrest; investigated 1 injury collision and impounded a vehicle for 30 days due to the driver having a suspended drivers’ license.

The Antioch Police Department is happy to report our most recent Part 1 crime numbers. Our Part 1 violent crime has dropped 11.5% and our Part 1 property crime has dropped 12.4%. Combined, our total Part 1 crime has dropped 12.3%. In addition, our total arrests are up 19.9%. These numbers are compared to our stats from last year for the same time period through the month of August.

We have been doing weekly proactive details, focusing on violent crime, drug activity, blight, and traffic enforcement. Additionally, our Neighborhood Watch Groups have been very active in our community, reporting suspicious and criminal activity as it is occurring. There is still work ahead of us and improvement to be made, but together we are making a difference.
