Second man shot in Antioch on Christmas

On Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m., a 26-year old man was walking in the 400 block of West 19th Street when he was confronted by unknown subjects in a vehicle.

The victim was shot once in the lower leg area. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect(s) fled the area in an unknown type vehicle.

Antioch man shot during attempted robbery on Christmas

On Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at 1:44 p.m., at 19-year old male was walking in the 4300 Block of Rock Island Drive, with two other friends, when they were confronted by three male suspects that drove up on them in a vehicle.

The suspects exited the vehicle and one of them demanded some jewelry that was being worn. The victim intervened to prevent the jewelry from being taken and the suspect produced a weapon.

The victim was shot once in the upper chest area. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspects fled the area in an unknown type vehicle.

Vallejo man killed by Pittsburg man during fight at Delta Bowl in Antioch, Friday night

On Friday, December 20, 2013 at approximately 6:08 PM, the Antioch Police Department received a report of a fight inside the bar area at Delta Bowl located at 3300 Delta Fair Blvd. Officers arrived to find the adult male victim down and unresponsive. The victim, a 41-year old Vallejo resident was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The suspect, identified as a 24-year oldmale Pittsburg resident, turned himself in to the Antioch Police Department several hours ago. This suspect has been arrested and will be sent to the Martinez Detention Facility on homicide charges. We will not be releasing any additional information at this time.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at approximately 8:19 a.m., Antioch Police began receiving calls of shots fired in the area of F Street at West 13th Street. Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting at that location. Witnesses assisted officers in locating the residence where the suspect had fled, in the 500 block of West 14th Street.

Officers were able to make contact with six occupants of the house. As a result of further investigation, three people were arrested for various charges including narcotics violations, weapons violation, vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

During this incident, Fremont Elementary School briefly and voluntarily locked down as a safety precaution for the students and staff.

One of the subjects arrested was identified by witnesses as the shooter and a firearm was recovered from inside the house.

A reported runaway juvenile was also located in the house and subsequently turned over to Children and Family Services.

No victims of the original shooting have been located at the time of this writing.

Names and/or photographs are not being released at this time as the investigation is currently ongoing.

Breaking News: Man hits Antioch police officer with car during traffic stop, arrested following chase, Wednesday night

On Wednesday, December 11, 2013, officers of the Antioch Police Department, in partnership with members of the Richmond Police Department, California Department of Corrections, FBI, and Contra Costa County District Attorney Investigators conducted a proactive enforcement detail in the City of Antioch. This operation was targeted at the high crime areas of the city.

At approximately 7:04 PM, officers assigned to this detail affected a traffic enforcement stop in the area of G Street at Texas Street. During this traffic stop, a police officer was struck by the suspect vehicle as it fled from officers, leading them on an over hour long pursuit through the cities of Antioch, Pittsburg, Bay Point, and Concord.

Multiple agencies were involved at different points in the pursuit to include the Pittsburg Police Department and CHP. Speeds in the pursuit reached up to 100 mph on SR-4. Spike strips were deployed several times during the pursuit, flattening some, but not all of the tires of the suspect vehicle. The pursuit ultimately ended up in the area of G St. and Longview Rd. in Antioch, as the suspect vehicle circled the neighborhood, driving on its rims.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle was disabled in the 2900 block of Longview Road and the driver (a 36-year-old male) fled on foot. This suspect was quickly apprehended a short distance away by the pursuing officers. He was later sent to the Martinez Detention Facility for charges including Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer and Felony Evading.

No officers or civilians were injured during this incident and there were no reported vehicle collisions. This case is still under investigation by the involved police agencies.

Man shot in Antioch on Friday, police investigating

On Friday, December 6, 2013, Antioch Police responded to a call of man having been shot in the 2400 block of Horizon Lane. Upon arrival officers located the victim suffering from non life threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in stable condition and expected to recover. No one is in custody at this time.

This case is still under investigation and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Antioch Police Department.

Woman arrested for stealing car in downton Antioch, following chase and crash, Thursday morning

On Thursday, December 5, 2012 at 7:26 a.m., a victim witnessed a subject, identified as 33-year-old Tammy Lechucia, driving away in his wife’s car. The victim gave chase in a second vehicle towards the Antioch downtown area. Lechucia refused to stop for the victim and during her effort to flee, Lechucia broadsided another uninvolved vehicle after running a stop sign. Lechucia fled the collision scene in the stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle finally succumbed to the damage of the earlier collision and stalled.

Lechucia was taken into custody without incident. She was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of auto theft and felony hit and run.

The driver of the vehicle that Lechucia struck was transported to a local hospital for treatment for injuries she suffered as a result of the collision. All injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

Boy hit by car driven by senior citizen on A Street, Wednesday afternoon

On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:05 p.m., Antioch Police received a call of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on A Street at W 15th Street. Callers indicated a young child was hit by a car at that location and was complaining of head and neck pain.

The 10-year-old male juvenile was conscious and alert at the scene, but was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover.

The driver of the vehicle, a 75-year-old Pittsburg resident, remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the juvenile attempted to run across A Street in the path of the vehicle, which subsequently struck him. It does not appear speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor in this incident.
