Man dies from gunshot wounds in Antioch, Tuesday afternoon

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 4:32 P.M., the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of shots fired and a victim down on the ground near Joe’s Liquor store at 1911 D Street. When officers arrived they found a male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. This information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing.

Teen arrested in armed robbery of Antioch gas station, Friday evening

On Friday, April 4, 2014 at approximately 5:26 P.M. the Antioch Police Department received a call from the clerk at a gas station at 3270 Lone Tree Way advising he was robbed at gunpoint. The victim, Darshan Singh, reported seeing the suspect running southbound Lone Tree Way near James Donlon Boulevard.

Upon arrival officers began searching the area for the suspect and located him on a section of old Lone Tree Way behind the CVS store. The suspect was sitting down counting money and fled upon seeing officers. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was caught by pursuing officers without incident. The suspect was positively identified, admitted to the crime, and was sent to Juvenile Hall. The stolen money was recovered and the clerk was not injured in the incident

Man shot in head in Antioch Thursday night, expected to survive

At Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 P.M., the Antioch Police Department received 911 calls regarding a male subject shot at 112 E. 6th Street. Officers arrived to find the victim with a single gunshot wound to the head and being attended to by area residents. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment and is expected to survive his injuries. Several leads are being followed up on as to the identity of the suspect who is believed to be known to the victim. The case is under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the Antioch Police Department.

Teen found shot on Sycamore Drive, Saturday night

On Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at approximately 11:40 P.M., the Antioch Police Department responded to the report of a shooting occurring at 2301 Sycamore Drive. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 15-year-old male, in the parking lot. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen and a gunshot wound to his upper arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital via helicopter and is currently in stable condition.

Antioch teen shot in crossfire on Monday, expected to recover

At approximately 3:12 PM on Monday, March 24, 2014, Antioch Police were called to the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a 14-year-old juvenile suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The juvenile was not involved in any type of dispute and appears to have been caught in the crossfire. He was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Several vehicles in the area were also struck by stray bullets. No other gunshot victims have come forward. The motive for this shooting is unknown and officers are following up on potential leads.

No further information is being released due to the on-going investigation.

Police arrest three Antioch men for probation violations

On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, Detectives of the Antioch Police Department, in partnership with members of the Richmond, Concord and Pittsburg Police Departments, California Department of Corrections, California Department of Justice, as well as members of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department and District Attorney’s Office conducted a series of probation searches of residences in the City of Antioch. This operation was targeted at AB-109 probationers living in the city.

The operation lasted the better part of the day as seven searches were conducted throughout the City of Antioch. A total of three suspects were arrested during this operation, including a 22-year-old, male, Antioch resident for Felon in Possession of Ammo, a 23-year-old, male, Antioch resident for a Parolee at Large Warrant and a 46-year-old, male, Antioch resident for Possession of Narcotics for Sale, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammo. Over an ounce of suspected narcotics were seized along with two loaded firearms and additional ammo during this operation. This operation was conducted to monitor and maintain the compliance of AB-109 probationers living in the City of Antioch.

NOTE: AB-109 was the Assembly Bill that was signed into law signed by Governor Jerry Brown in 2011 to reduce prison overcrowding and designed to reduce recidivism (repeat offenders) in California.

Man shot in Antioch, Wednesday morning

On Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at approximately 11:42 AM, Antioch police received numerous calls of shots fired in the area of West 5th and J Streets Officers arrived and an area check was completed. There were no victims or suspects located at that time, however, shell casings were located in the 900 block of W. 5th St. A few minutes later, officers were dispatched to a possible fight on W. 2nd Street. Officers located the victim there with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Leads to the identity of the shooter are being investigated. This incident may have been narcotics related.

Antioch police arrest man for DUI following car accident early Friday

On Friday, March 14, 2014 at approximately 2:26 AM, Antioch police responded to a call of a vehicle accident involving a single vehicle on Cavallo Road near Minner Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle had been ejected from the vehicle during the accident and had major injuries. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest for DUI. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
