On Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 8:50 PM the Antioch Police Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers found an 18-year-old Pittsburg man unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Life saving measures were implemented and the victim was transported to an area hospital where he subsequently died a short time later.

Also at the scene were two additional victims. They are an 18-year-old Antioch male and a 24-year-old male out of Pittsburg. Both of these victims had non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Both were transported to an area hospital where they were treated and have been released.

The three victims all knew each other and were outside of an apartment smoking when they were approached by subjects unknown to them. As the unknown subjects approached the victims they began shooting at them, striking all three victims. The suspects fled the area after the shooting and are at large.

It is the sixth homicide in Antioch, this year.

This information is preliminary as Antioch PD Investigators are in the early stages of the investigation. No other information will be released at this time.

On Thursday, November 19, 2015 at approximately 4:47 PM, the Antioch Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 2300 block of Peppertree way for an unresponsive male after a disturbance at the location. The male, a 69-year-old Antioch resident, was transported to an area hospital where he is in critical condition. Investigators are interviewing all other involved parties and/or witnesses to determine what occurred at the residence to cause the man’s injuries. There are no outstanding persons of interest at this time.

CLAYTON, Calif., November 19, 2015 – For the 24th straight year, a number of representatives from Contra Costa County non-profit agencies were on hand Thursday at the annual Marsh Creek Detention Facility’s Toy Show to fulfill their kids’ Christmas wish lists. The representatives were able to choose from numerous newly handcrafted toys and bicycles refurbished by the facility’s inmates. These gifts are given to the children who are being served by these agencies during the upcoming holidays.

Along with the many displayed toys and bikes, the inmates decorated the Marsh Creek Detention Facility’s workshop to look like Santa’s own. Joining the non-profit-agency representatives were Contra Costa County’s Superintendent of Schools Karen Sakata and Sheriff David Livingston, as well as numerous representatives from both agencies to celebrate this longtime agency partnership that benefits the community.

Both Superintendent Sakata and Sheriff Livingston gave their thoughts to the many attendees about the extremely successful partnership of the Contra Costa County Office of Education’s (CCCOE) accredited shop classes being taught in a Contra Costa County Jail. “We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful agency collaboration that brings such value to our county,” said Superintendent Sakata. “With this project, these adult students will certainly bring a brighter Holiday Season to many children throughout our community.”

A small group of Marsh Creek Detention Facility inmates have been working on this project since the workshop re-opened in early October. They have been extremely busy fixing up used bikes to look and ride like brand new, and crafting colorful and beautiful wooden toys, such as, ball and cup games, spinning carousels, cars, doll houses, baby cradles, toy tractors, train sets, and more. All of the toy makers and/or bike mechanics are students in the Contra Costa Adult School, an accredited school directed by the Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE), located within the detention facility.
CCCOE’s woodshop teacher Paul Turner hit the ground running, directing this project, soon after being hired on September 28. “On October 7, we opened the doors to the woodshop and bike shop,” said Turner, “It was like going into someone’s garage,” he laughed. “We had a lot of work to do in a short amount of time, but luckily my small group of students had plenty of skills to produce more than 400 toys and refurbish 170 bikes by the time this event rolled around. I’m very proud of how hard they worked on this project.”

Non-profit organizations participating in this special event included: Bay Area Rescue Mission, Brighter Beginnings, Contra Costa County Independent Living Skills Program, El Cerrito Fire Department, Shelter Inc., The Salvation Army-Antioch Corps, Ujima Family Recovery Services/La Casa, and VESTIA.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

During the 2014-15 school year, approximately 2,343 adult inmates (throughout the three Contra Costa detention facilities) were enrolled in classes ranging from academic programs, including basic literacy and GED preparation, to vocational programs, including woodshop, construction, and state-of-the-art computer training. By the end of the school year, 17 student-inmates received their GED and 23 received a high school diploma, and 34 students passed the California High School Exit Exam. In addition, there were 207 students who demonstrated learning gains in reading or math, and 122 students earned a certificate of completion in computer applications. Another course directed by the CCCOE is the DEUCE Program (Deciding, Educating, Understanding, Counseling, and Evaluation).

These three-part classes (90 days) focus on substance abuse prevention. Last year, 708 students completed at least one of the three phases, and 146 students graduated from DEUCE. The Parenting Inside/Out class teaches vital parenting skills to women and men, with 57 certificates issued last school year. Last year, the CCCOE opened a new re-entry class at the West County Detention Facility. The re-entry class offers workforce readiness, career exploration, soft skills workshops, and a nine-week cognitive-behavior-change program called Transitions. Currently, 46 inmates are enrolled in the re-entry course.

These classes help to provide education and skills needed for successful transition back into the community.

On Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 9:30 PM, the Antioch Police Department was dispatched to Bryan Avenue near Beasley Avenue for a victim of a shooting. Upon arrival officers contacted a 22-year-old male, Antioch resident suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is being treated and expected to recover from his injuries.

It was learned that the victim was standing next to a vehicle speaking with a friend, who was in the car when a vehicle drove by, stopped and an occupant confronted the victim. The suspect asked the victim if he was in a gang and when the victim denied being in the gang, the suspect began shooting at him. The suspect then fled the area. No other parties were injured as a result of the shooting.

An unrelated parked car and a home in the proximity were struck by stray rounds of gunfire.

An email sent to parents of students at Holy Rosary Catholic School in Antioch from Principal Tim Hooke on Saturday, warned of a threat against the students in grafitti discovered in the boys bathroom, earlier that day. What was written and who was responsible was not shared by Hooke.

According to one parent, who wished to remain anonymous, stated via email “Someone found out the threat was to kill all the students at Holly [sic] Rosary School.”

This morning, during the Parish CYO basketball games at the Holy Rosary Gym, threatening graffiti was discovered in the boy’s bathroom. The threat was taken seriously and the police were called. The Police Department was unable to identify any immediate and/or credible threat and is working with us to ensure the safety to our campus. They Police Department will provide extra attention to our campus this weekend, which will include a physical walk-through before the campus opens on Monday morning. The safety of all who enter our campus is of the utmost importance to us.

On Saturday Morning, graffiti was found in the boys restroom of the gymnasium at Holy Rosary School. The narrative stated a threat to the school campus. The Police Department was called and they investigated. The Principal, Mr. Tim Hooke was present and cooperated with the Police department. On Saturday, an email was sent out to the parent community informing them of the situation. Mr. Hooke met with the police department on Monday morning, to complete a thorough-walk through of the school buildings before school opened. All was found in order. The parents were updated via Constant Contact on Monday. Mr. Hooke collaborated with the Police and was in communication with the Department of Catholic Schools, Diocese of Oakland throughout the weekend. In keeping with the procedures and policies, the administration of Holy Rosary School throughout the weekend, took actions and communication to ensure the safety of all the students.

I want to update you on what has been done to ensure the safety of our students today. The Antioch Police Department had officers monitor the campus throughout the weekend. Monday morning at 5:30 am, I met with officers and did a thorough walk-through of the school buildings and school grounds. Everything appeared to be in order and so our normal Monday school day went on as planned as will the remainder of the week. I understand in light of the events in our country and the world that an incident like this can instill concern and fear. Let us join together to pray for peace, safety and ongoing respect for each other that our Faith calls us to.

In a phone message from Acting Sergeant Tom Fuhrmann of the Antioch Police Department, Monday at 4:00 p.m., he stated the graffiti was “of a bomb threat giving a date of Monday it would go off and there was also some other satanic type stuff written on the walls. A report was taken and the investigation is still ongoing. There’s no suspect at this time. The school was checked. There was nothing suspicious found.”

 

 

From Antioch City Manager Steve Duran’s Weekly Report, dated 11/13/15, as provided by Police Chief Allan Cantando:

-On 11/11/2015 at 10:44 pm, officers were dispatched to 901 “J” St. regarding subjects being loud, selling drugs and possibly in possession of firearms. Officers arrived and made contact with two people, a 26 year old male and 22 year old Megan Malley. Officers searched both subjects and discovered Malley had fixed blade knife concealed in the front pocket of her sweatshirt. She was arrested for a weapons violation and later booked at the county jail. The male was released at the scene.

-On 11/11/2015 at 9:09 pm, officers contacted 46 year old Mary Bailey was at Auto Center Dr. and S.R. Hwy 4 because her vehicle was disabled. A records check indicated she had an outstanding arrest warrant with a bail of $10,000 dollars issued out of Walnut Creek Superior Court charging theft and failure to appear in court. She was issued a citation with a new court date and released in the field.

-On 11/15/15 at 4:43 pm, an officer saw an Acura sedan driving in the area of W.9th and “J” streets. The officer saw the vehicle park and the 16 year old male driver exit the car and walk away. The officer ran the license plate and the car returned stolen. The officer drove back to the vehicle and found the driver was back in the car. He was detained without incident and arrested for auto theft. The 16 year old also had a dagger concealed on his person. He was later booked at juvenile hall for auto theft and a weapons charge. .

-On 11/11/2015 at 12:01 pm, officers contacted 24 year old Bronson Boyle who was loitering in the area of 2745 Hillcrest Avenue. A records check revealed he had two outstanding arrest warrants charging DUI and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Boyle was arrested without incident and later booked at the county jail.

–On 11/11/15 at 2:24 am, officers responded to a call of an audible alarm at St John’s Lutheran Church at 1360 E. Tregallas Rd. When officers arrived they found all the exterior doors were secure. Through a window, they could see an open cabinet and property on the floor. A subscriber responded with a key and officers entered the church to conduct a security check. They found 47 year old Lisa Henry inside trying to disable the alarm. She was detained and property belonging to the church was found in her possession. She was arrested for burglary and booked at the county jail.

-On 11/10/15 at 8:02 am, an officer made contact with subjects sleeping in a car in front of 2104 Manzanita Way. The subjects were identified as 21 year old Christian Leiva and 24 year old Alfredo Cobian. A records check indicated Cobian had an outstanding arrest warrant for violation of the terms of felony probation. Officers could smell the odor of marijuana and subsequently searched the vehicle. In doing so, they located marijuana packaged for sale, U.S. currency, a scale, prescription drugs, and other drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested for possession for sale of a controlled substance and booked at the county jail.

-On 11/8/15 at 9:53 pm, 25 year old Jesse Brandt was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart. He provided a false name to officers, and was found to be in possession of heroin. Brandt was later cited released.

-On 11/8/15 at 10:52 pm, an officer was patrolling filbert St. when he saw 26 year old Brett Kroh exit a vehicle. A records check of the plate revealed the car Kroh got out of was stolen. Kroh was taken into custody for auto theft without incident and sent to County Jail.

-On 11/8/15 at 3:50 pm, an officer drove passed a pick-up truck on Bryan Avenue and ran the license plate. The check revealed that the truck was recently stolen. Officers conducted a high-risk stop and the driver and passenger were detained without incident. 32 year old Frank Mercado and 34 year old Michael Derham were arrested for auto theft and sent to county jail.

-On 11/7/15 at 11:30 am, a local hospital called to advise that a 58 year old male was the victim of an assault with a bat and had arrived for treatment. When officers arrived, the victim was undergoing surgery on a broken left arm. Later in the shift, hospital personnel called back advising the victim was out of surgery and able to provide a statement. The victim described being assaulted with a metal bat on Mariposa Court by a 28 year old man that was known to him. The investigation is ongoing.

-On 11/7/15 at 10:30, 52 year old Jose Sansen was trespassing in a vacant residence on 6th Street. Officers arrived and found him to be in possession of methamphetamine. Sansen also had three warrants for his arrest. He was arrested and transported to county jail.

-On 11/7/15 at 8:19 am, a dryer on Johns Way caused a fire in the garage. The residence became fully engulfed. There were no injuries.

-On 11/6/15 at 11:40 pm, an officer was traveling westbound on Lone Tree Way under the Highway 4 Bypass. A red Mercury made an abrupt, illegal u-turn directly in front of the officer and he was forced to brake to avoid a collision. He initiated an enforcement stop and the Mercury finally yielded in the Kohl’s parking lot. 23 year old Patrick West was contacted as the driver and later determined to be DUI. A search incident to arrest produced the following items: Digital Scale; 77-Ecstasy Pills (24.5 grams); 45.3 grams of Marijuana; 5.1 grams of prescription drugs and $925 dollars in cash. West’s vehicle was towed. He was taken to APD and later to County Jail.

-On 11/6/15 at 9:36 pm officers responded to the report of a vehicle abandoned in the street on El Monte and Monterey Drive. Upon their arrival, officer found an unoccupied black ’03 BMW 745L in the middle of the street. The BMW had bullet holes in it and a rear flat tire. On 11/5/2015 officers responded to shots fired near San Jose Dr & St Frances Drive. This BMW was struck with bullets in that incident and it was left legally parked at the scene. It is unknown who abandoned the BMW tonight. Other than the flat tire, there was no new damage. The vehicle was towed and stored.

-On 11/6/15 at 9:20 pm, an officer contacted 34 year old Kenneth Pearson while he was loitering on the east side of Shell gas station on Auto Center Drive. A wants/warrants check revealed two outstanding no-cite warrants for Pearson. He was arrested without incident and booked at county jail.

-On 11/6/15 at 2:18 pm, Safeway employees called dispatch reporting that a 32 year old male was in front of the business on a bike saying that he had just shot himself with a BB gun in the chest. When officers arrived they found that the man had a small entrance wound on his upper chest that appeared to be from a small caliber handgun or a pellet gun. The man was alert and functioning and said that he rode his bike for several miles after being shot. He would not provide a clear statement and only tell officers that he couldn’t recall what exactly happened. He was adamant that he was shot with a BB gun. He was transported to a local hospital where they located a small caliber bullet in his chest and found that the bullet had collapsed his lung. He is currently in stable condition.

-On 11/5/15 at 7:15 pm, officers were dispatched to Sycamore and Auto Center Drives regarding a subject passed out inside her vehicle in the middle of the road. 56 year old Eleanor Bell was contacted in her vehicle and found to be extremely intoxicated. She admitted to drinking alcohol and taking methadone. Bell was so intoxicated that she was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Bell also had a misdemeanor warrant for a prior DUI case. She was issued a citation for the warrant as well as the new DUI and released at the hospital.

-On 11/5/15 at 2:50 pm, officers were called to Ridgeview Drive by a woman who rents a room in a home. Part of her rental agreement was she was not allowed to go into the garage. She did go into the garage today while the homeowners were gone and discovered what appeared to be several homemade explosive devices. Responding officers were able to see the devices in the garage through a side window and they were consistent with homemade explosives. The rest of the residence was cleared and secured so that a search warrant could be obtained by investigators. Two locked bedroom doors were kicked open while clearing the residence. The Walnut Creek PD bomb squad was notified and responded. In the mean time, the owner was contacted via cell phone and advised of the investigation at her home. She denied any knowledge of what was in the garage, but gave police consent to search the residence. While the bomb squad was preparing to safely examine the devices, the owners showed up. They advised that the devices were homemade Halloween decorations created to look like dynamite. They were PVC pipes filled with sand, and “sparklers” used to look like a fuse. This was eventually confirmed by the bomb squad and the devices were found to be harmless.

-On 11/5/15 at 1:00 pm, officers responded to a traffic collision at Contra Loma and James Donlon Blvds. The investigation determined 32 year old Nickolas Fine was driving a vehicle and was under the influence of alcohol. Fine was arrested for DUI without incident. Fine was booked at the county jail. No one was injured in the collision.

On November 9, 2015 at approximately 6:37 P.M. Antioch Police responded to calls of shots fired at a small apartment complex in the 300 block of West 20th Street. While enroute another citizen called to report a male had been shot. Upon arrival Officers located an adult 31-year-old male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was awake and cooperative with Officers. The suspect(s) are still outstanding and Officers are working on developing possible suspect leads.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

From Antioch City Manager Steve Duran’s Weekly Report, dated 11/615, as provided by Police Chief Allan Cantando:

– On 11/5/15 at 4 am, officers responded to a woman yelling in Prosserville Park on W 6th Street. 47 year old Denett Volle was contacted and found to have warrants for her arrest. She was yelling for unknown reasons. Volle was booked into County Jail.

– On 11/4/15 at 9:50 pm, an officer contacted 47 year old Shane Agness and 34 year old Dawanna Hall while they were loitering at the carwash on Somersville Road. They both admitted to having narcotics in their possession and consented to searches. Agness was in possession of marijuana, meth, and a glass pipe. Hall was in possession of meth. Both subjects were cited released from the scene.

– On 11/4/15 at 7 pm, officers were dispatched to Del Oro Circle because 37 year old Raynisha Washington was creating a disturbance on the porch of a home and was not welcome there. Washington was contacted on the porch and found to have a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and transported to County Jail.

– On 11/4/15 at 2 pm, 36 year old Terrance Adams broke the rear sliding window of a residence on West 10th Street using a paint can. Adams then entered the residence in search of food. Adams was still inside the residence when officers arrived and was arrested without incident. Adams admitted to burglarizing the residence because he was hungry. The victim (homeowner) later arrived on scene. Adams was transported to County Jail.

– On 11/4/15 at 1:15 pm, we received a call of shots fired near S. Lake Drive. Officers arrived and did not locate any victims. A neighbor in the area heard the shots and then observed a dark colored Chrysler vehicle flee the area. Approximately 15 minutes later we received a call from a 28 year old male who was now home in Oakley and claimed to be the victim of a shooting. The victim was contacted and reported that he was shot at while stopped at the intersection of Wilbur Ave and Cavallo Road. His vehicle had an apparent bullet hole near the driver side B-pillar. The victim described the responsible vehicle as being the same vehicle described by the resident on S. Lake Drive. It is unknown if the two shootings are related. There were no casings found at either location.

– On 11/4/15 at 6:40 am, officers were dispatched to Freedom Way on the report of an attempted residential burglary that just occurred. The victim stated that an unknown subject, who fled the area on foot, attempted to enter his residence by kicking open the front door. A 17 year old male was detained near the victim’s residence and was later identified by the victim as being one of the two responsibles. The male was sent to Juvenile Hall.

– On 11/4/15 at 4 am an adult male armed with a gun robbed the 7-11 on Buchanan Road and fled towards Pittsburg in a vehicle. We notified Pittsburg and they advised that their 7-11 had already been robbed by a similar described responsible at 0306 hours. The responsible was not located.

– On 11/4/15 at 2 am, a 13 year old male walked out of a Family Care Home and ran away. Group home employees drove around looking for him for an hour prior to calling dispatch. The 13 year old suffers from Autism, ADHD, and has severe mental disabilities. He was last seen wearing a green zip-up hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, and black socks with no shoes. He was entered into the Missing Persons System as an at-risk missing juvenile and a Be On The Lookout was sent out. No helicopters were available and a track with the K-9 ended on ‘G’ Street near James Donlon Boulevard. County Search and Rescue were notified and responded. A couple hours later an APD officer located the 13 year old walking on Lone Tree Way near Muirwood Way. He was returned to his group home.

– On 11/4/15 at 1:10 am, an officer made a traffic stop on 48 year old Leonard Burleigh for expired registration on E. 18th Street. Upon contacting him, Burleigh consented to a search of his vehicle. The officer recovered approximately 7.2 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle. Burleight was arrested and cite released.

– On 11/3/15 at 10 pm, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on 32 year old Nicholas Warner on Fitzuren Road. Dispatch confirmed a warrant for Warner’s arrest. Warner was arrested without incident and sent to County Jail.

– On 11/3/15 at 8:45 pm, officers responded to a theft report at Wal-Mart on Lone Tree Way and contacted 38 year old Damien Adams. Adams had felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody and sent to County Jail.

– On 11/3/15 at 4:45 pm a 14 year old male was walking on the trails near the Water Park on Lone Tree Way when he was confronted by two male juveniles who demanded his phone. When he didn’t give them his phone they punched him several times until he handed it over. The suspects then fled the area and were not located.

– On 11/3/15 at 10 am, San Jose PD’s Fugitive Team was in Antioch tracking one of their suspects in an armed take over robbery of a computer store. 20 year old Willie Nichols was seen at a residence on Carob Street, and SJPD planned to arrest him once he entered a vehicle to leave. SJPD requested an APD marked unit for a uniformed presence and communications only. Two APD Units responded and stayed on the outer perimeter. Nichols entered a vehicle in front of the residence and he was arrested. After the scene was secure the APD Units cleared.

– On 11/2/2015 at 11:28 pm, officers saw a stolen vehicle traveling in the area of Crestview Drive and W.10th Street. They followed the vehicle while waiting for cover officers to arrive. The vehicle stopped at the intersection of Auto Center Drive and Sycamore Drive. The driver, 43 year old Gary Duarte, was arrested for vehicle theft. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/2/2015 at 8:26 pm, an officer observed a stolen vehicle traveling in the area of C Street and Railroad Avenue. He followed the vehicle while waiting for cover officers. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Chevron gas station at 2413 ‘A’ Street. The driver, 24 year old Mychal Plew, was arrested without incident for vehicle theft. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/2/2015 at 8:27 am, officers responded to a loitering complaint at Eco Technologies at 2340 Verne Roberts Cir. Officers arrived and made contact with 30 year old Michael Hamilton. A records check revealed that Hamilton had two outstanding arrest warrants charging vandalism, petty theft and failing to appear in court. He was arrested and later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 7:40 pm, officers responded to the 2900 clock of Filbert St. on the report of a female subject screaming inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers contacted 26 year old Ryan Kroh standing across the street from the house. Kroh had an injury to his leg he sustained when a dog from the house attacked him. An Animal Control Officer responded and took possession of the dog. Officers conducted a welfare check at the house but located no one inside. A records check revealed Kroh had an outstanding felony arrest warrant charging possession of stolen property. He was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 3:30 pm, officers responded to the 2100 block of Peppertree Way regarding a male who was armed with a handgun and conducting drug sales. As officers arrived in the area, 19 year old Ronvell Scheneck fled on-foot discarding a loaded pistol. Officers gave chase and were able to quickly detain Scheneck. A canine unit conducted an article search along his flight path and located the pistol in

a bush. Records indicated Scheneck has an extensive criminal history, and is on probation for possession of a firearm with narcotics. He was booked at county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 3:10 pm, officers responded to the Somersville Town Center at 2550 Somersville Rd. regarding a report of a subject tampering with vehicle door handles in the parking lot and stealing items from the cars. Officers arrived and detained 24 year Marcus Griffin. Witnesses positively identified Griffin as the thief. He was found in possession of stolen property as well as 10 bindles of heroin, methadone and percocet pills, marijuana, cash and a cell phone. Griffin was arrested for possession for sale of controlled substances and auto burglary. He was booked at the county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 2:16 pm, an officer was patrolling W. 10th St. The officer observed a subject loitering in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Bonfare Market at 901 W. 10th St. The officer contacted the occupant of the vehicle, 24 year old Deansae Levine. A records check indicated he had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Alameda County for possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/31/2015 at 3:34 pm, officers responded to California Check Cashing at 2954 Delta Fair Blvd. regarding a subject attempting to cash a stolen check. As officers arrived, they stopped a vehicle containing the suspect, 28 year old Chantel Cardoza. The investigation revealed Cardoza entered the check cashing store and attempted to cash a stolen check for over $1000.00. The check was confirmed to be stolen and Cardoza left the store and got into a waiting vehicle. Cardoza confessed to attempting to cash the stolen check. She was arrested for fraud, possession of stolen property, burglary and violation of probation. She was later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/31/2015 at 10:16 am, officers responded to Alpha Way regarding a subject peeping through windows. When confronted by a resident, the male claimed he was looking for a jacket he had accidentally left in a yard. Officers were aware the neighborhood had recently suffered three residential burglaries. During one of the break-ins, the responsible had left his jacket behind at the point of forced entry. The suspect was last seen at the Wienerschnitzel restaurant on E. 18th St. by residents who followed him to that location. The male was detained by officers and identified as 25 year old Nathan Nelson. A records check indicated he was on felony probation for burglary. He was arrested for peeping and a probation violation. Nelson was later booked at the county jail. Officers continue to investigate his connection to the recent rash of burglaries.

– On 10/31/2015 at 8:47 am, officers contacted 34 year old Alicia Jackson at an encampment on a trail near Mission Dr. A records check indicated she had two outstanding arrest warrants charging assault with a deadly weapon and petty theft with prior convictions. She was arrested and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/30/2015 at 8:17 pm, officers responded to W. 16th St. for two 16 year old victims reporting an assault and robbery. Furthermore, they advised they had followed the suspects with the assistance of an adult. The pair reported to officers they had been walking on W. 18th St. in front of the Antioch Middle School. They noticed a group of juveniles following them. A male, later identified as a 13 year old juvenile, confronted them with a handgun. He demanded one of the victims hand over her purse. The gunman attempted to grab the purse from the female victim, but she refused to release it. One of the gunman’s cohorts pushed the second victim against a fence. As the female victim continued to struggle with the gunman over the purse, she was struck by an object on the back of the head which cause a laceration and bleeding. The robbers eventually fled the scene with no loot. The 13 year old gunman and the 15 year old accomplice were arrested. The gun used during the robbery was not located. Both juveniles denied any involvement in the crime and were later booked at juvenile hall. The female victim who was struck in the back of the head was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and treated and later released.

– On 10/29/2015 at 11:23 pm, officers responded to the 800 block of W. 9th St. on the report of a prowler. When officers arrived they could hear at least one person fleeing from the area of the home and jumping over fences as they did so. An area check was conducted and 22 year old Dashed Burks and another male were contacted at Bonfire Market on W. 10th St. Burks was found to be in possession of a loaded .45 cal pistol. He was placed under arrest for weapons charges. A records check revealed the pistol was reported stolen to ATF and had been taken from a UPS interstate shipment from Arkansas to Martinez, Ca. Burks was booked at the county jail. The male with Burks was released from the scene.

– On 10/29/2015 at 9:24 pm, an officer was patrolling the area of A St. and contacted 34 year old Evila Briones walking through the church lot at 1313 A St. A records check revealed she was on misdemeanor probation in Contra Costa County with a search and seizure clause, and also on felony probation out of Lake County for assault with a deadly weapon. A search of her person yielded approximately 0.4 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. She was booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 8:52 pm, officers responded to the 100 block of E. 7th St. regarding a 21 old woman who arrived home with her infant son. As she approached the house carrying him, she saw 36 year old John Pavlin approaching her from the side yard with a large stick in his hand. She fled to her car and called her husband, who in turn called “911”. The investigation determined a sofa had been placed under a front window and the screen removed and the previously locked front door was found standing open. Pavlin was detained and ultimately arrested for burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 8:31 pm, officers responded to 2500 Somersville Rd. regarding a vehicle accident. The investigation determined that 21 year old Richard Saucedo was driving northbound on Somersville Rd and collided with a vehicle in front of him that was stopped for the red light. That vehicle in turn collided with a third vehicle in front of it. Saucedo was still in the driver seat when officers arrived. He was reluctant to get out of the car and kept trying to return to the car after he finally exited. Saucedo ultimately tried to push past officers to get to his car and struggled with officers as they attempted to detain him. Saucedo displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. He was placed under arrest for DUI and later provided a blood sample. Marijuana, paraphernalia, and hash oil residue were located inside Saucedo’s vehicle. He was booked at the county jail for DUI and resisting arrest.

– On 10/29/2015 at 5:54 pm, officers responded to the main entrance of the Somersville Towne Center at 2550 Somersville Rd on the report of a man armed with a gun making threats to shoot people. The caller provided a detailed description of the man. Officers arrived and conducted a search of the mall but did not locate the gunman. Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood and located the gunman in the apartment complex at 3421 Hudson Ct. He was eventually identified as 20 year old Lafayette Davenport. Officers attempted to detain him and he fled. He discarded a loaded handgun into a dumpster as he was fleeing. After a somewhat lengthy foot chase and search, Davenport was located hiding inside the rear fenced patio of one of the apartments. An officer broke several fence boards to access and arrest Davenport. Davenport was arrested for weapons charges, being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 2:52 pm, officers contacted 31 year old Christopher Smith who was walking in the area of Delta Fair Blvd. and Buchanan Road. Smith had three outstanding arrest warrants charging vandalism, driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. Smith was arrested and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 1:43 pm, police responded to the Lakeshore Apartments at 600 Wilbur Ave. after a security guard called dispatch reporting a subject, later identified as 34 year old John Pate, was near a white truck and acting suspiciously. Pate was contacted by officers and admitted to being the driver of the white truck. The truck was found to be reported stolen by Oakland PD. Pate was placed under arrest for auto theft and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 6:35 am, the Antioch Police SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 2200 block of Hobart Ct. An illegal shotgun and narcotics were seized from the location. The suspect was not home at the time the warrant was served.

– On 10/29/2015 at 12:43 am, officers responded to 3915 Delta Fair Blvd. on the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they found the front window to the apartment was completely shattered. A female holding an infant was standing in front of the broken window along with 27 year old Gregory Frazier. Frazier was uncooperative and retreated back into the apartment. Officers attempted to detain Frazier inside but he actively resisted and would not comply. A struggle ensued inside the apartment. A taser was eventually deployed and Frazier was subdued and taken into custody. He was booked at the county jail on charges of delaying, obstructing and resisting police officer.
