18-year-old female shot in Antioch Sunday night

The Antioch Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured an 18-year-old woman believed to have been an unintended victim.
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 10:36 p.m., Antioch police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Sycamore Drive and Peppertree Way. When officers arrived, they located 26 spent shell casings in the roadway and secured the scene while searching for evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.
During the investigation, officers learned that the woman had been struck by gunfire and was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
The preliminary investigation determined the victim had just exited a business in the Sycamore Square shopping center when the shooting occurred. Investigators believe she was not the intended target and was inadvertently struck by gunfire.
The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
The investigation remains active, and no additional information is being released at this time.
