Antioch man struck, killed by train Monday, July 11th identified

According to a report by the Antioch Police Department, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 8:34 pm, a freight train was east bound on the BNSF railroad tracks, that run along the Antioch waterfront, at approximately 40-45 MPH approaching the trestle near the A Street extension, where it turns to become West Second Street.

The victim was walking the tracks but did not hear the train or the blowing horn. The victim was struck by the train, which the force of the impact launched him approximately 150 feet and he landed in the Delta just off the shore. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. BNSF railroad police were called and took over the investigation. According to witnesses, the victim was simply not paying attention.

According to Lena Kent, Director of Public Affairs for Arizona and California for BNSF Railway, the victim was a man.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Santos Cervantes, age 50 of Antioch.

    So how many 1,000s the railroads get to run down like gogs before the railroad murder charges kick in. The owner gave away $2.8 billion this month and these tracks have no monitoring system because????
