Child dies from backyard swimming pool drowning in Antioch, Tuesday

On June 14, 2016 at approximately 12:58 pm, Antioch police officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of Evergreen Avenue for an unresponsive child who apparently fell into and drowned in a backyard swimming pool.
Upon arrival, Officers started life saving measures until paramedics arrived and took over. The child was transported to a local area hospital, but did not survive.
The investigation is ongoing, but at this time, all indications are that this was a terrible accident.
