By Lieutenant Don LaDue, Antioch Police Field Services Bureau
On Monday, May 16, 2016 at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of shots fired by two people in a black Jaguar near the parking lot of Quikstop at 1108 Sycamore Drive. Several rounds were fired with a rifle. There are no known injuries at this time, but there were unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot struck by gunfire. The Jaguar and a second vehicle sped away and got onto west bound Highway 4. There were reports the occupants of the two vehicles were shooting at each other on the highway, but that is not confirmed.
Antioch Police caught up with the Jaguar at the Shell gas station on Bailey Road in Bay Point and took two subjects into custody and recovered a firearm. The California Highway Patrol located and stopped the other vehicle along with Antioch Police several miles away on west bound Highway 4 where two other subjects were taken into custody. A firearm was also recovered at that location.
At this time, it is not believed there are any outstanding suspects. It is also not known at this point in the investigation if there is a connection to the recent shootings on Highway 4. The names of the involved parties will not be released at this time pending possible eyewitness identifications.
Currently, officers are following up on possible leads and interviewing witnesses. This incident is still under investigation.
