Recently opened Antioch Produce & Farmers Market now includes a butcher shop which offers halal meats, including lamb, goat, chicken and veal.

Owner Haroon Sherzai drives his truck early each morning to get the fresh fruits, vegetables and meats he offers in his store, which is located at 1625 A Street, behind Rite Aid and Wells Fargo Bank.

His produce is mostly from local farmers, Sherzai states. Halal meat is cut and prepared in such a way so it is permissible for Muslims to eat.

Antioch Produce is open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If you are a fresh meat lover especially lamb and goat, Antioch Produce and Farmers Market is the right place to experience the taste of real lamb and goat meat. While in San Francisco area last week, a group of old friends and I wanted to give our reunion a taste of home food. Fortunately we came across this fantastic place to shop for fresh Halal meat and fresh fruits. I am thankful to Antioch Produce and Market; we enjoyed a lamb kebab that refreshed my taste buds’ memory to last for a long while.

What a treat to have this unique place. Although I have my own way of making lamb kebab, the owner was kind enough to offer us his own “special recipe” with recommended authentic spices. It was a delightful experience.

Thank you Antioch Produce and Farmers Market
