On Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 12:58 p.m., Antioch Police responded to a call of a vehicle accident on Flagstone at Boulder Drive for a garbage truck that struck a power pole. Upon arrival officers found the driver of the garbage truck was in the process of lowering the front dump bin when he struck the overhead power lines causing them to arc. The energized lines caught the truck and its contents on fire.

Con-Fire responded to put out the fire while PG&E responded to sever power. Several houses were temporarily evacuated as a precautionary measure. There were no injuries as a result of the incident and no damage to any structures. Approximately 40 houses lost power as a result of the incident with an estimated time of 6-7PM before power would be restored.

Another new business opened in Antioch, recently. Todd Traut opened a CPR Cell Phone Repair store in town in January with a “soft opening.” It is one of over 100 CPR locations in the U.S., Canada and South America.

They can repair any type of cell phone, as well as tablets and gaming devices.

At the ribbon cutting with the Antioch Chamber at his store, today, Traut said, “We’re happy to be in Antioch. This a good location with a lot of traffic and with all the growth in the area”

“Most of our business occurs in the mornings and evenings, because of the commuters,” he added. “But, we get a steady stream of stay-at-home moms coming in during the day.”

Dr. Sean Wright, President of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce offered his congratulations to the new business.

“We’re glad to have you in Antioch and wish you success,” Wright stated before Traut cut the ribbon officially opening his store.

Tomorrow – Saturday, March 2 – they’ll be hosting their Grand Opening and invite everyone to stop by to enter to win prizes. See their flyer, below.

They’re located at 5865 Lone Tree Way, Suite F in the same center as PetSmart, across from Lumpy’s and near Tao San Jin and Country Waffles Restaurants.
