I’d Vote for Arne Simonsen for Full-Time Mayor
To the editor:
As expected, Don Freitas is going to run for mayor next election. And he should. He controlled the city council meetings very well. But that’s no reason to re-elect him. Since he left office two years ago, he has not made any appearances at council meetings, never any input on anything.
The same can be said of Arne Simonsen. Never shows at council meetings and little input in the newspaper. But I could vote for Arne if he would make a commitment to run as a full-time mayor and eliminate the position of city manager.
Arne is the only council person to ask questions. I always thought him to be the smartest of them all. He has the time to be full-time mayor and we need him.

I totally agree – Arne is a sensible person not caught up in the political garbage. He’s also a US Navy veteran and he “gets it” when it comes to asking the right questions.
He would have my support as well.

i very much like your idea of eliminating the city managers jakel position. this city manager position cost the city, us, i may say, $ 300,000 plus. on top of it, he does not lives within the cities boundaries.pays no property tax in antioch, and i bet he does not do his shopping in antioch. so yes, lets get rid of him.antioch is going down the drain..unstoppable, biz are leaving by the bus.
well, and the mayor will be elected, to be fair to our democratic process, but here i also agree with you..davis need to go, followed by kalinowski and rocha.
