On Thursday, October 24, 2013 at approximately 11:50 AM, the Contra Costa Fire Department responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Whitetail Drive on a report of a house fire. They arrived to find an electrical box to the home on fire which they were able to quickly extinguish. No one was home at residence; however, evidence of marijuana cultivation was found inside. The Antioch Police Department was summoned to investigate and confirmed a large scale marijuana cultivation operation. Investigators were called in and ultimately seized approximately 1100 marijuana plants from the home along with marijuana cultivation equipment. The case is still being investigated by the Antioch Police Department’s Special Operations Unit.

Alan Wilson

On Thursday, October 24, 2013, Antioch Police Department undercover officers located Alan Wilson who was a parolee at large in the area of Sycamore Drive and L Street. Undercover detectives along with patrol officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Wilson, but he fled from them, leading officers on an 8 minute long pursuit through Antioch.

The pursuit ended in 2900 block of Filbert Street in Antioch, where Wilson ditched his vehicle and fled on foot. Wilson fled over neighborhood fences but was apprehended a short distance away.

Wilson was found to be in possession of a large amount of narcotics, cash, and evidence of narcotics sales along with a loaded handgun. Wilson was sent to the Martinez Detention Facility on his Parole Warrant as well as charges of narcotics trafficking and gun possession.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 8:05 p.m. the Antioch Police Department received calls of shots fired in the 2200 block of Lopez Drive. While officers were enroute additional reports came in of a subject down. Upon arrival officers found a 27 year old male down in the front yard of a residence who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later. Details are limited at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, September 28, 2013 at approximately 10:01 PM, Antioch Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 2200 block of Banyan Way. The officers arrived to find a 24-year-old male Oakley resident and a 20-year-old male Suisun City resident suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to a local area hospital for treatment. The 24-year-old victim was later pronounced deceased. As of Saturday, the 20-year-old male was in surgery.

Following an extensive investigation by Antioch PD detectives, 19-year-old San Francisco resident Armoun Page, was identified as the lone suspect in this case. He was arrested in San Francisco on Monday, September 30, 2013 at approximately 6:00 PM by San Francisco Police on the Antioch homicide warrant. He is currently being held in the Martinez Detention Facility on $2,000,000 bail. The case is currently being prepared for filing with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Lihua Hu

The Antioch Police announced, today, that last Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM, police conducted an undercover operation at the Oasis Healing Spa massage parlor in the 5100 block of Lone Tree Way. During the operation, an undercover officer paid for a massage and was solicited by Lihua Hu, a 53-year-old San Gabriel resident, during the massage to pay for sexual acts.

The undercover operation was conducted after receiving complaints regarding the suspicious activity at the business as well as advertisements from the business on local internet escorts sites.

On Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 12:30 p.m., Antioch Police received calls of shots fired in the 1600 block of Sycamore Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year-old male victim, who is an Antioch resident, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries and released. The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information to be released regarding suspects or possible motives.

On Friday, September 13, 2013, at approximately 7:09 PM, Antioch Police Officers responded to a solo vehicle collision on Hillcrest Avenue near the intersection of Sterling Hills Drive. The vehicle was found to have collided into a tree, ejecting both the driver and passenger. Officers located a 17-year-old male Antioch resident, who was pronounced deceased at the scene and a 19-year-old male, also an Antioch resident, who was transported to John Muir Hospital with major injuries.

UPDATE:

During the course of this investigation, information was developed that a second vehicle may have been involved in this incident. On Saturday, September 14, 2013, Antioch Police Investigators were contacted by this second involved party. The driver of the second involved vehicle responded to APD and is cooperating with investigators. There are no signs that either vehicle collided with one another, but both had been traveling at a speed in excess of the posted speed limit prior to the collision. At this time, alcohol has not been determined to be a factor in this collision.

The condition of the injured 19yr old male has been upgraded from critical to serious.

All names are being withheld at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

SECOND UPDATE:

The 17-year-old victim of the car crash was identified, today as Lydell Benjamin, a Deer Valley High School student.

Daveion Cornelious

On Thursday, September 12, 2013 at approx 10:50 am, Antioch Police officers attempted to stop a vehicle reportedly occupied by a male armed with a firearm in the 1600 block of Sycamore Drive. The suspect, 19-year-old Antioch resident Daveion Cornelious, failed to stop and led officers on a short pursuit in the immediate area. During this pursuit, Cornelious attempted to ram a patrol vehicle, and then rammed two citizen’s vehicles in his way.

Cornelious slowed, exited his vehicle brandishing a gun. He shot at an officer in a patrol vehicle immediately behind him, but missed. The officer in turn struck Cornelious with his patrol vehicle, knocking him to the ground and knocking the gun out of his hand. Cornelious fled on foot but was apprehended approx ½ mile away at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds.

At this time there does not appear to be any injuries to officers or citizens. Cornelious sustained only minor injuries from the incident and was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for multiple charges, including attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, and associated weapons charges.

Cornelious has a short criminal history as an adult, but was out on felony bail for a burglary arrest in March of this year.
