Antioch teen shot in leg, Tuesday night

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at approximately 6:19 P.M., Antioch Police Officers responded to the 2200 Block of Manzanita Way on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival Officers located the 15-year old victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for the non-life threatening injury. There is no suspect information at this time. The case, designated as an assault with a deadly weapon, is still under investigation.

Two men rob Antioch convenience store at gunpoint, Thursday

On Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 5:35 PM, Antioch Police received a call from a clerk inside the business that they were being robbed at gunpoint. Officers responded to the business, the Dutch Pride Gas & Food store at 507 E. 18th Street (corner of Cavallo Road) and arrived on scene quickly but the suspects had already fled. A police K-9 was used to track the suspects, but they were not located. Neither clerk was injured during the robbery. The suspects were described as follows:

#1-BMA (Black Male Adult), 20-25 years wearing light gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and armed with a black semi-auto handgun.

#2-HMA (Hispanic Male Adult), 20-25 years wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, light colored shorts, and armed with a silver semi-auto handgun.

The robbery is still under investigation.

Man stops intruder during Antioch home burglary, Thursday

On Thursday, May 1, 2014 at approximately 1:45 P.M., a resident in the 3000 Block of Lovebird Way arrived home to find an unknown male inside his house in the process of burglarizing it. The resident confronted the male and tried to physically detain him but the responsible was able to escape out the front door. The victim got into his vehicle and began following the responsible down the street. As he did, the responsible began brandishing a firearm at the victim, who continued to follow at a distance.

The responsible jumped a fence into the backyard of a residence in the 3000 block of Swallow Way and the victim lost sight of him. The victim watched the residence until officers arrived. A perimeter was set up and the residence and yard were checked by officers but the responsible was not located. The victim was not injured during the incident and no shots were fired.

This incident is still under investigation.

Oakley man shot in Antioch, Sunday night

On Sunday night, April 27, 2014 at approximately 11:04 P.M., Antioch Police Officers responded to a call of a shooting at Dogwood Way and Mahogany Way. Upon arrival, Officers located a 28-year-old adult male from Oakley, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim stated that he was walking in the area when an unknown gunman shot him for an unknown reason.

Officers and medical personnel provided medical aid to the victim, who was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. The victim is expected to survive. The case is still under investigation.

Vandals hit cars and homes with rocks in Antioch, last Friday

Beginning on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 1:33 A.M., Antioch Police dispatch received numerous calls of vandalism to vehicles and homes concentrated in and around the above areas. Additional reports have been made from other areas of the city.

Unknown suspects traveled through various neighborhoods, including Mira Vista Hills, Black Diamond Estates and Diamond Ridge, and threw “river rocks” through the glass of vehicles and some homes.

As of noon Friday, police officers had responded to approximately 25 calls related to this incident. Additional reports continue to be made to dispatch and via the on-line reporting system.

Antioch teen shot and killed Wednesday night

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at approximately 8:39 PM, Antioch Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 4900 block of Country Hills Drive. The officers arrived to find a juvenile male incapacitated from multiple, apparent gunshot wounds. Life saving measures were taken by the arriving officers and medical personnel, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

This case is currently being investigated as a homicide by the Antioch Police Department Investigations Bureau. We are in the preliminary stages of this investigation, and no further information will be released at this time.

Antioch police bust marijuana cultivation early Friday morning

On Friday, April 11, 2014 at approximately 12:21 AM, Antioch Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a residence on Hawthorn Court on a report of an audible alarm. They arrived at the home to find the alarm sounding along with an unsecured front door. During a security sweep of the residence, evidence of a large scale marijuana cultivation operation was discovered. Investigators were called in and ultimately seized approximately 500 marijuana plants from the home along with marijuana cultivation equipment. The case is still being investigated by the Antioch Police Department’s Special Operations Unit.

One thief dead, one customer shot in armed robbery of Antioch jewelry store, Friday

On Friday, April 11, 2014 at 4:27 PM, the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery with shots fired at the Hardy Nix Jewelers store, at 3600 Delta Fair Blvd. As officers were arriving they learned a customer inside the jewelry store had been shot and one of the responsibles in the robbery had been shot by the owner and was down on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. This subject was later pronounced dead at the scene.

It was also learned a second responsible in the robbery fled on foot east bound towards Kaiser. An extensive search was conducted for this subject with negative results. The victim inside the business was transported to an area hospital with what is believed to be a non-life threatening wound. This information is preliminary as the investigation is ongoing.

According to witnesses, the store owner is who shot the robber and was later taken away by police for questioning.
