The Antioch Library Music Series sponsored by Keller Canyon Mitigation Funds continues with Drummm® on Monday, January 22nd at 6:30pm. Celebrate the New Year with the trained facilitators of this rhythmic event as we utilize the power of drumming to benefit our physical and emotional well-being. This popular Bay Area group lives up to their motto: “Connecting the world in rhythm…one beat at a time!” Registration is not required.

The Keller Canyon Mitigation Funds are administered through the Office of Contra Costa County District 5 Supervisor Federal Glover.

The Antioch Library is located at 501 W 18th Street. The Library is open  Monday and Tuesday, 12-8, Wednesday and Thursday 11-6, and Saturday 12-5. For further information, phone the Library at 925-757-9224.

Arrgghh, matey! Who wants to be a pirate? Audition for Treasure Island play in Antioch

The Drama Factory is proud to announce auditions for its first show of the 2018 season, “TREASURE ISLAND”.

An adaptation of the classic novel by Robert Lewis Stevenson, about Jim Hawkins and friends hunting for the lost treasure of the pirate Captain Flint, while battling Long John Silver and his group of pirates!! Auditions will be held January 15 and 16 at 7pm, located at the Nick Rodriguez Theatre, 213 F Street in Antioch. Open to ages 13+ / Adult.

Enter the Christmas Lights of Antioch Photo Contest to win prizes from local businesses – by Midnight tonight!

While the homes are still decorated with Christmas lights this week and you’re off work, spent all your money on presents, are in need of some free entertainment and have nothing else to do, grab your family and/or significant other, hop in the car, take a drive around town and take and send us a photo of your favorite one with the address of the home and we’ll post the photo here with your name as the photographer.

Then the homeowners and first photographers of a home who send in their photo and are one of the three whose photos get the most likes by Monday, January 1st at 12 pm Noon will each win a gift certificate from an Antioch business!

Email your one photo only (no videos) to info@antiochherald.com. Only one favorite home photo can be submitted per person. First 100 photos will be accepted. Photographers must also “Like” the Antioch Herald FB page to be eligible for a prize. Deadline for submitting photos is Saturday, Dec. 30 at 12 Midnight.

So, go see the lights and send in a photo of your favorite!

The winner of the 2017 Antioch Rivertown Holiday Store & Window Décor Contest is G St. Mercantile. Congratulations to owners Michael Gabrielson and Brandon Woods. They edged out the two-time reigning champion Urban Jumble by just seven votes and will receive a free quarter-page ad in the Herald. Thanks to John Goodson for helping count the ballots and to Mayor Pro Tem Lamar Thorpe for picking the winning ballot entries for the prizes. Thank you to all the shops that participated in this year’s contest.

Two more chances to see Humbug! play in Antioch

Frank Ballesteros’ production of the play Humbug! will have two more performances tonight, Saturday Dec. 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Antioch Historical Society, 1500 W. Fourth Street.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for students and senior citizens, and $6 for children (ages 7-12 years old). There are no advance ticket sales.
