Surf and Classic Rock Band includes Former Members of The Beach Boys

Formed in 1965, the now legendary California band, PAPA DOO RUN RUN, quickly discovered their forté – they could sound just like the Beach Boys! That sound caught the attention of surf music icons, Jan & Dean, and from 1976-80 PDRR toured North America as opening act and back-up band with the celebrated duo. In 1981, PDRR graduated from J&D to the Beach Boys, and performed and recorded with members of that band throughout the …next two decades. The group also had an unprecedented 15-year run as the “Celebrity House Band” at Disneyland from 1975-90! In the mid 80’s Papa Doo became the kings of corporate entertainment, performing at up to 150 corporate events a year, worldwide! Their fun packed show is still a favorite of dozens of Fortune 500 companies.

PDRR’s first major record release, “Be True To Your School” (RCA, 1975), made the Billboard Hot 100 nationally and reached No. 1 in California.

Here’s how they describe themselves…”Not exactly a ‘tribute band’. We’ve got 10 albums out, three gold records, and a Grammy nomination. Plus we’ve all played with the Beach Boys. One of our guys was in the BBs for 10 years and another for 20. We don’t try to act or dress like the BBs, we just do their songs. We’re known for sounding like the them, but BBs songs are only about one-third of what we do. We also sound like Frankie Valli, the Beatles, Doobies, Creedence, and other classic rock acts. More like a tribute to the 60’s.”

The Cash Tribute Show featuring James Garner delivers the Man in Black’s music with conviction, accuracy, sincerity, and honesty. James Garner not only takes his audience through a musical journey of Johnny Cash’s biggest hits, but also on an ex.pedition of the Man in Black’s legendary life. Between accurate performances of Cash’s songs, Garner recounts the stories of Johnny’s childhood, entrance into the music business, and the highs and lows Cash experienced in a career that spanned 48 years. The Eagles tribute band Hotel California performs at Antioch's El Campanil Theatre on Friday night, January 21.

A nice crowd enjoyed the songs of the grammy-award winning rock band, the Eagles, as the tribute band “Hotel California” performed at Antioch’s historic El Campanil Theatre, in downtown Rivertown, last Friday night, January 21, 2011.

The band played the Eagles’ chart-topping songs including Desperado, Take It Easy, Tequila Sunrise, Already Gone, One of These Nights, Lyin’ Eyes, Life In The Fast Lane and Take It To The Limit, among others during the two-and-a-half hour show.

The band members hit all the high notes and played all the familiar guitar rifts, and drum beats, pleasing the original band’s fans in attendance. They finished their final set with the song for which they’re named, “Hotel California,” before returning to the stage with a three-song encore.

The El Campanil Theatre hosts concerts, comedy shows, classic movies, symphony, ballet, live theater as well as presentations by local groups, throughout the year.
