Delta Band Review

Come join the Antioch Band Backer’s Association for the 28th annual Delta Band Review on Saturday, Sept. 24th from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The competition area is in front of Antioch Middle School on D street. The awards ceremony is at 1 p.m. in Eells Stadium at Antioch High School.

16 bands from Northern and Central California will be judged on music and showmanship. Bands attending include Deer Valley High School, Freedom High School, California High School, Northgate High School, Concord High School as well as many others.

This is a free event, no charge for the parade or awards ceremony. Food will be available for purchase at Antioch High from Sticky Chicken and Ribs, Straw Hat, Cold Stone Creamery and Jamba Juice.

Delta Blues Festival on Saturday

One Day Only – Saturday, September 17, 2011 from Noon to 7:30 p.m. in Antioch’s Rivertown District off 2nd street between “G” and “I” streets on the San Joaquin Delta.

The Mt. Diablo Audubon Society will showcase their talents at Antioch’s Lynn House Gallery September 10th – 24th, on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2-4 PM. The exhibit opens with an artist reception on Saturday, September 10th from 2-4 PM. The artist reception and exhibit are free.

The exhibit features Mount Diablo Audubon Society members who are committed to the sustainable balance of our community’s people, birds, other wildlife, and habitat through conservation, education, and advocacy. The exhibit will showcase the artwork of the society’s members and the region’s natural environment through paintings, photography, and other artistic mediums.

Participating artists are Joel Summerhill, Dave Kwinter, Paul Schorr, Megan Sandri, Julia Starr, Maury Stern, David Merrill, Gloria Cannon, Scott Hein, Jean Matuska, Deborah Kirshen, Brian Murphy and Ellis Myer.

Peace Concert Auditions

The Antioch Church Family multi-cultural children’s choir is holding auditions September 7th and 14th at 5:30 for their upcoming Peace concert.

The audition and concert will be held at 55 East 18th Street in Antioch. We are looking for 50 eager voices aged three to ten to sing at our September 17th, 5 p.m. concert. Musicians of any age are also welcome.

The concert is part of East Bay’s regional 11 Days of Peace celebration, and will include the award-winning Voices Of Antioch. For more information call Joyce Howell at 202-8022.

First Concert at Community Center Amphitheater

The Antioch Community Center Presents The First Night On The Green on Friday September 16 at The Antioch Community Center Amphitheater, 4703 Lone Tree Way, from 6 pm to 10 pm. Doors open At 5 pm.

The concert features The Katy Lawrence Band with special guests Silent Partner plus the jazz sounds of the SmoothEase. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Admission is free. Seating capacity is 300. For information call 925-776-3050.
