Blues Benefit Concert

Art & Cultural Foundation of Antioch and El Campanil Theatre present Blues Benefit Concert on Saturday, February 11 from 7pm – 10pm at the El Campanil Theatre, 602 W. Second Street, Antioch.

Concert Artist Line-Up:
· Candy Kane – Nominated for FIVE National Blues Foundation Awards – Best Contemporary Blues Female 2011 with Laura Chavez – Vintage Guitar magazine says about Laura Chavez “Shes not a rising star — Shes already arrived.”
· Ricky Earl Band – Louisiana Blues Man, the Piper of the Blues and Blues Man of this Century, featuring Cherise – an exciting vocalist and entertainer specializing in R&B, Jazz and Blues.
· BigCat Tolefree – BIG singer and a BIG talent from the inner-city limits of beautiful Oakland, California
· Kathy Tejcka – A Bay Area favorite – Barrel-house piano with energetic vocals.
· Frankie G – A truly passionate blues guitarist from the East Bay.

The DBF Benefit Concert gives back to the community! Proceeds from the February show directly goes to the free, annual festival in September – the Delta Blues Festival.

For the past 13 years, the Delta Blues Festival has provided the residents of Antioch and the surrounding communities a great day of family entertainment downtown at Waldie Plaza. All of this has been done for FREE – due to the generous support of the City of Antioch, the Corporate Sponsors, and hard work of the volunteers. Festival organizer Frank Giovanni is determined to continue the tradition of the DBF and to keep it free to the public.

“On February 11, 2012” said Frank Giovanni, “we’re gonna rock one of the most beautiful stages in the bay area, El Campanil Theater, with some of the best talent there is to offer. ”

Baroque Music Concert

The Friends of Music series begins the 2012 season Saturday, January 21st at 7:30 p.m. with a Baroque Music for Trumpet and Organ concert at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church on 3351 Contra Loma Blvd. Kevin McLaughlin plays Trumpet and Don Pearson Organ. Selections are from Bach, Handel, Telemann and Vivaldi.

East County Idol Auditions

Auditions are being held for the fourth installment of the East County Idol, sponsored by the Antioch Music Foundation. The show comes to the El Campanil Theatre February 24th at 7:30. Auditions will be held at East County Mall, Somersville Town Centre January 21st and 28th from 10 to 6.

Prizes are $400, $200 and $100. The program, emceed by radio celebrity Kim Dooley, will be rebroadcast. Auditions are open to any high school student living in Far East County. Hallelujah! Light Has Come Musical at Golden Hills

Golden Hills Community Church presents their annual Christmas musical by the Celebration Singers entitled “Hallelujah! Light Has Come.”

Performances are Saturdays, December 17 at 6 p.m. and 24th at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Admission is free.

The musical will be performed at the church’s Brentwood campus at 2401 Shady Willow Lane at Lone Tree Way.

Nutcracker at El Campanil this Weekend

The Brentwood Children’s Ballet Theater is pleased to announce its seventh annual production of The Nutcracker.  The Nutcracker is a timeless holiday tradition that brings a young girl’s Christmas dream to life.  This beautiful production is geared towards children’s enjoyment but will also entertain the young at heart.

Performances will be Saturday and Sunday, December 17 & 18 at Noon and 4 p.m.  Ticket prices range from $12 to $20.

Imagine Christmas is a unique, imaginative and highly-visual program that will be presented this year in joint effort of Cornerstone Christian Center church and school.

This biblically-sound narrative ties fast-paced scenes with fresh arrangements of traditional Christmas music and tells this miraculous story in a uniquely visual way. A telling that is somewhere between our memory and our imagination.

Canadian Orchestra and Choir to Present “Mary Did You Know” Christmas Concert Thursday in Antioch

The Fountainview Academy Orchestra and Choir, from Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada will perform the musical “Mary Did You Know” at the Antioch Seventh Day Adventist Church during the stop on their west coast tour, this Thursday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m.

This internationally acclaimed Canadian youth orchestra and choir includes in its live performances huge orchestral renditions of your favorite Christmas melodies and quiet, reflective pieces. This orchestra has toured Eastern Europe, Central America, North America, and has been broadcast internationally on Three Angels Broadcasting Network, The Hope Channel, and other networks including Canada’s premier station: CTV. They have released twelve professional albums and four DVD recordings.

The concert is free, open to the public and is enjoyed by people of all ages and backgrounds. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The church is located at 2200 Country Hills Drive in Antioch.
