we’re having 5 employees at the works department, equipment operators, which earn $ 180,000 each !!!!!!
their base salary is doubled by overtime!!!

our council members “earn” $ 31,000 plus each, while brentwood pays $ 7,000, and pittsburg $ 17,000

on top of it, we’re, the tax payers, pay tausends of dollars for a consultant lady, which “teaches all council members, who knows what.

we’re paying also about $ 40,000 to jakel as a good by gift.

the council just gave a $ 3,000,000 christmas gift to 21 none safety employees.

the list is loooong….

Perhaps the city could take a real close look at the street vegetation crew budget. The impacts of the continuous trimming/control program are marginal at best. Cut back the vegetation at the intersections only if there is a obstruction. And stop wasting money topping the trees and shrubs at the wall height. Can’t believe that public safety budget has been cut to the bone and the trimmers are still working year round.

Another reason the 2010 sales tax measure failed, Barbara, was because it would have hurt Antioch business. That’s why the local business community led the fight against it. Even though we were outspent 22-1, we defeated it. Not sure if one will pass, this time, especially since there will most likely also be an additional 1/2 cent sales tax increase for transportation in the county on the same ballot. We shall see.

i just received the council meeting agenda for next tuesday. part of the agenda is the budget discussions for 2013/ 2014.

under police staffing it shows, authorized and funded! (for 13/14 and 14/15)..128 officers. 18 open and funded positions.
it seems to me our hr department needs to speed up the hiring efforts.?
the 2013/ 2014 budget also shows double digest salary increases?

since the crime is down, we may don’t need to increase the sales tax or property tax?

Kenji: As a landlord/owner of a rental you should know if it is tax deductible. I believe it is a cost of doing business and your tax account /income tax preparer would be the correct person to ask.

at the time our city lawyer is verifying the correctness of the ballot initiative. it will take about 15 days from now before we know if everything is correct.

Just curious, as a landlord with a rental myself, is this fee tax deductible since it will be a cost of doing business with the rental?
