Antioch motorcycle cop injured in on-the-job accident, Tuesday

On Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at approximately 12:50 pm, an Antioch police motorcycle officer was working traffic enforcement in the area of West Tregallas Rd. and Bautista St. The officer was preparing to make a turn in order to stop a traffic violator when he was struck from behind by another vehicle.

The officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. The driver of the vehicle who struck the officer remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The California Highway Patrol was called to investigate the collision which is standard procedure. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the collision.

The names of the involved parties will not be released at this time. This incident is still under investigation and anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to contact the Antioch Police Dept. at (925) 778-2441
