Antioch Police calls for service highlights, Oct. 29-Nov 5, 2015

From Antioch City Manager Steve Duran’s Weekly Report, dated 11/615, as provided by Police Chief Allan Cantando:

– On 11/5/15 at 4 am, officers responded to a woman yelling in Prosserville Park on W 6th Street. 47 year old Denett Volle was contacted and found to have warrants for her arrest. She was yelling for unknown reasons. Volle was booked into County Jail.

– On 11/4/15 at 9:50 pm, an officer contacted 47 year old Shane Agness and 34 year old Dawanna Hall while they were loitering at the carwash on Somersville Road. They both admitted to having narcotics in their possession and consented to searches. Agness was in possession of marijuana, meth, and a glass pipe. Hall was in possession of meth. Both subjects were cited released from the scene.

– On 11/4/15 at 7 pm, officers were dispatched to Del Oro Circle because 37 year old Raynisha Washington was creating a disturbance on the porch of a home and was not welcome there. Washington was contacted on the porch and found to have a warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and transported to County Jail.

– On 11/4/15 at 2 pm, 36 year old Terrance Adams broke the rear sliding window of a residence on West 10th Street using a paint can. Adams then entered the residence in search of food. Adams was still inside the residence when officers arrived and was arrested without incident. Adams admitted to burglarizing the residence because he was hungry. The victim (homeowner) later arrived on scene. Adams was transported to County Jail.

– On 11/4/15 at 1:15 pm, we received a call of shots fired near S. Lake Drive. Officers arrived and did not locate any victims. A neighbor in the area heard the shots and then observed a dark colored Chrysler vehicle flee the area. Approximately 15 minutes later we received a call from a 28 year old male who was now home in Oakley and claimed to be the victim of a shooting. The victim was contacted and reported that he was shot at while stopped at the intersection of Wilbur Ave and Cavallo Road. His vehicle had an apparent bullet hole near the driver side B-pillar. The victim described the responsible vehicle as being the same vehicle described by the resident on S. Lake Drive. It is unknown if the two shootings are related. There were no casings found at either location.

– On 11/4/15 at 6:40 am, officers were dispatched to Freedom Way on the report of an attempted residential burglary that just occurred. The victim stated that an unknown subject, who fled the area on foot, attempted to enter his residence by kicking open the front door. A 17 year old male was detained near the victim’s residence and was later identified by the victim as being one of the two responsibles. The male was sent to Juvenile Hall.

– On 11/4/15 at 4 am an adult male armed with a gun robbed the 7-11 on Buchanan Road and fled towards Pittsburg in a vehicle. We notified Pittsburg and they advised that their 7-11 had already been robbed by a similar described responsible at 0306 hours. The responsible was not located.

– On 11/4/15 at 2 am, a 13 year old male walked out of a Family Care Home and ran away. Group home employees drove around looking for him for an hour prior to calling dispatch. The 13 year old suffers from Autism, ADHD, and has severe mental disabilities. He was last seen wearing a green zip-up hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, and black socks with no shoes. He was entered into the Missing Persons System as an at-risk missing juvenile and a Be On The Lookout was sent out. No helicopters were available and a track with the K-9 ended on ‘G’ Street near James Donlon Boulevard. County Search and Rescue were notified and responded. A couple hours later an APD officer located the 13 year old walking on Lone Tree Way near Muirwood Way. He was returned to his group home.

– On 11/4/15 at 1:10 am, an officer made a traffic stop on 48 year old Leonard Burleigh for expired registration on E. 18th Street. Upon contacting him, Burleigh consented to a search of his vehicle. The officer recovered approximately 7.2 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle. Burleight was arrested and cite released.

– On 11/3/15 at 10 pm, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on 32 year old Nicholas Warner on Fitzuren Road. Dispatch confirmed a warrant for Warner’s arrest. Warner was arrested without incident and sent to County Jail.

– On 11/3/15 at 8:45 pm, officers responded to a theft report at Wal-Mart on Lone Tree Way and contacted 38 year old Damien Adams. Adams had felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody and sent to County Jail.

– On 11/3/15 at 4:45 pm a 14 year old male was walking on the trails near the Water Park on Lone Tree Way when he was confronted by two male juveniles who demanded his phone. When he didn’t give them his phone they punched him several times until he handed it over. The suspects then fled the area and were not located.

– On 11/3/15 at 10 am, San Jose PD’s Fugitive Team was in Antioch tracking one of their suspects in an armed take over robbery of a computer store. 20 year old Willie Nichols was seen at a residence on Carob Street, and SJPD planned to arrest him once he entered a vehicle to leave. SJPD requested an APD marked unit for a uniformed presence and communications only. Two APD Units responded and stayed on the outer perimeter. Nichols entered a vehicle in front of the residence and he was arrested. After the scene was secure the APD Units cleared.

– On 11/2/2015 at 11:28 pm, officers saw a stolen vehicle traveling in the area of Crestview Drive and W.10th Street. They followed the vehicle while waiting for cover officers to arrive. The vehicle stopped at the intersection of Auto Center Drive and Sycamore Drive. The driver, 43 year old Gary Duarte, was arrested for vehicle theft. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/2/2015 at 8:26 pm, an officer observed a stolen vehicle traveling in the area of C Street and Railroad Avenue. He followed the vehicle while waiting for cover officers. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Chevron gas station at 2413 ‘A’ Street. The driver, 24 year old Mychal Plew, was arrested without incident for vehicle theft. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/2/2015 at 8:27 am, officers responded to a loitering complaint at Eco Technologies at 2340 Verne Roberts Cir. Officers arrived and made contact with 30 year old Michael Hamilton. A records check revealed that Hamilton had two outstanding arrest warrants charging vandalism, petty theft and failing to appear in court. He was arrested and later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 7:40 pm, officers responded to the 2900 clock of Filbert St. on the report of a female subject screaming inside a residence. Upon arrival, officers contacted 26 year old Ryan Kroh standing across the street from the house. Kroh had an injury to his leg he sustained when a dog from the house attacked him. An Animal Control Officer responded and took possession of the dog. Officers conducted a welfare check at the house but located no one inside. A records check revealed Kroh had an outstanding felony arrest warrant charging possession of stolen property. He was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 3:30 pm, officers responded to the 2100 block of Peppertree Way regarding a male who was armed with a handgun and conducting drug sales. As officers arrived in the area, 19 year old Ronvell Scheneck fled on-foot discarding a loaded pistol. Officers gave chase and were able to quickly detain Scheneck. A canine unit conducted an article search along his flight path and located the pistol in

a bush. Records indicated Scheneck has an extensive criminal history, and is on probation for possession of a firearm with narcotics. He was booked at county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 3:10 pm, officers responded to the Somersville Town Center at 2550 Somersville Rd. regarding a report of a subject tampering with vehicle door handles in the parking lot and stealing items from the cars. Officers arrived and detained 24 year Marcus Griffin. Witnesses positively identified Griffin as the thief. He was found in possession of stolen property as well as 10 bindles of heroin, methadone and percocet pills, marijuana, cash and a cell phone. Griffin was arrested for possession for sale of controlled substances and auto burglary. He was booked at the county jail.

– On 11/1/2015 at 2:16 pm, an officer was patrolling W. 10th St. The officer observed a subject loitering in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Bonfare Market at 901 W. 10th St. The officer contacted the occupant of the vehicle, 24 year old Deansae Levine. A records check indicated he had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Alameda County for possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested without incident and booked at the county jail.

– On 10/31/2015 at 3:34 pm, officers responded to California Check Cashing at 2954 Delta Fair Blvd. regarding a subject attempting to cash a stolen check. As officers arrived, they stopped a vehicle containing the suspect, 28 year old Chantel Cardoza. The investigation revealed Cardoza entered the check cashing store and attempted to cash a stolen check for over $1000.00. The check was confirmed to be stolen and Cardoza left the store and got into a waiting vehicle. Cardoza confessed to attempting to cash the stolen check. She was arrested for fraud, possession of stolen property, burglary and violation of probation. She was later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/31/2015 at 10:16 am, officers responded to Alpha Way regarding a subject peeping through windows. When confronted by a resident, the male claimed he was looking for a jacket he had accidentally left in a yard. Officers were aware the neighborhood had recently suffered three residential burglaries. During one of the break-ins, the responsible had left his jacket behind at the point of forced entry. The suspect was last seen at the Wienerschnitzel restaurant on E. 18th St. by residents who followed him to that location. The male was detained by officers and identified as 25 year old Nathan Nelson. A records check indicated he was on felony probation for burglary. He was arrested for peeping and a probation violation. Nelson was later booked at the county jail. Officers continue to investigate his connection to the recent rash of burglaries.

– On 10/31/2015 at 8:47 am, officers contacted 34 year old Alicia Jackson at an encampment on a trail near Mission Dr. A records check indicated she had two outstanding arrest warrants charging assault with a deadly weapon and petty theft with prior convictions. She was arrested and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/30/2015 at 8:17 pm, officers responded to W. 16th St. for two 16 year old victims reporting an assault and robbery. Furthermore, they advised they had followed the suspects with the assistance of an adult. The pair reported to officers they had been walking on W. 18th St. in front of the Antioch Middle School. They noticed a group of juveniles following them. A male, later identified as a 13 year old juvenile, confronted them with a handgun. He demanded one of the victims hand over her purse. The gunman attempted to grab the purse from the female victim, but she refused to release it. One of the gunman’s cohorts pushed the second victim against a fence. As the female victim continued to struggle with the gunman over the purse, she was struck by an object on the back of the head which cause a laceration and bleeding. The robbers eventually fled the scene with no loot. The 13 year old gunman and the 15 year old accomplice were arrested. The gun used during the robbery was not located. Both juveniles denied any involvement in the crime and were later booked at juvenile hall. The female victim who was struck in the back of the head was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and treated and later released.

– On 10/29/2015 at 11:23 pm, officers responded to the 800 block of W. 9th St. on the report of a prowler. When officers arrived they could hear at least one person fleeing from the area of the home and jumping over fences as they did so. An area check was conducted and 22 year old Dashed Burks and another male were contacted at Bonfire Market on W. 10th St. Burks was found to be in possession of a loaded .45 cal pistol. He was placed under arrest for weapons charges. A records check revealed the pistol was reported stolen to ATF and had been taken from a UPS interstate shipment from Arkansas to Martinez, Ca. Burks was booked at the county jail. The male with Burks was released from the scene.

– On 10/29/2015 at 9:24 pm, an officer was patrolling the area of A St. and contacted 34 year old Evila Briones walking through the church lot at 1313 A St. A records check revealed she was on misdemeanor probation in Contra Costa County with a search and seizure clause, and also on felony probation out of Lake County for assault with a deadly weapon. A search of her person yielded approximately 0.4 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe. She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. She was booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 8:52 pm, officers responded to the 100 block of E. 7th St. regarding a 21 old woman who arrived home with her infant son. As she approached the house carrying him, she saw 36 year old John Pavlin approaching her from the side yard with a large stick in his hand. She fled to her car and called her husband, who in turn called “911”. The investigation determined a sofa had been placed under a front window and the screen removed and the previously locked front door was found standing open. Pavlin was detained and ultimately arrested for burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 8:31 pm, officers responded to 2500 Somersville Rd. regarding a vehicle accident. The investigation determined that 21 year old Richard Saucedo was driving northbound on Somersville Rd and collided with a vehicle in front of him that was stopped for the red light. That vehicle in turn collided with a third vehicle in front of it. Saucedo was still in the driver seat when officers arrived. He was reluctant to get out of the car and kept trying to return to the car after he finally exited. Saucedo ultimately tried to push past officers to get to his car and struggled with officers as they attempted to detain him. Saucedo displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. He was placed under arrest for DUI and later provided a blood sample. Marijuana, paraphernalia, and hash oil residue were located inside Saucedo’s vehicle. He was booked at the county jail for DUI and resisting arrest.

– On 10/29/2015 at 5:54 pm, officers responded to the main entrance of the Somersville Towne Center at 2550 Somersville Rd on the report of a man armed with a gun making threats to shoot people. The caller provided a detailed description of the man. Officers arrived and conducted a search of the mall but did not locate the gunman. Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood and located the gunman in the apartment complex at 3421 Hudson Ct. He was eventually identified as 20 year old Lafayette Davenport. Officers attempted to detain him and he fled. He discarded a loaded handgun into a dumpster as he was fleeing. After a somewhat lengthy foot chase and search, Davenport was located hiding inside the rear fenced patio of one of the apartments. An officer broke several fence boards to access and arrest Davenport. Davenport was arrested for weapons charges, being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 2:52 pm, officers contacted 31 year old Christopher Smith who was walking in the area of Delta Fair Blvd. and Buchanan Road. Smith had three outstanding arrest warrants charging vandalism, driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. Smith was arrested and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 1:43 pm, police responded to the Lakeshore Apartments at 600 Wilbur Ave. after a security guard called dispatch reporting a subject, later identified as 34 year old John Pate, was near a white truck and acting suspiciously. Pate was contacted by officers and admitted to being the driver of the white truck. The truck was found to be reported stolen by Oakland PD. Pate was placed under arrest for auto theft and later booked at the county jail.

– On 10/29/2015 at 6:35 am, the Antioch Police SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 2200 block of Hobart Ct. An illegal shotgun and narcotics were seized from the location. The suspect was not home at the time the warrant was served.

– On 10/29/2015 at 12:43 am, officers responded to 3915 Delta Fair Blvd. on the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they found the front window to the apartment was completely shattered. A female holding an infant was standing in front of the broken window along with 27 year old Gregory Frazier. Frazier was uncooperative and retreated back into the apartment. Officers attempted to detain Frazier inside but he actively resisted and would not comply. A struggle ensued inside the apartment. A taser was eventually deployed and Frazier was subdued and taken into custody. He was booked at the county jail on charges of delaying, obstructing and resisting police officer.
