Warriors win first NBA championship in 40 years, parade and rally in Oakland, Friday

The Golden State Warriors did it! They won the NBA championship for the first time since 1975, by defeating LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at their home, by a score of 105-97 Tuesday night. Andre Iguodala was awarded the MVP award for the series, after scoring 25 points during Game 6, helping the Dubs to beat the Cavs four games to two.

The championship parade and rally will be held in Oakland beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday. Following is the information from the Warriors website:

Parade To Start At 10:00 A.M. At Broadway & 11th With Rally To Follow at Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center

The Golden State Warriors and the City of Oakland will host a parade and rally to honor the 2014-15 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors on Friday, June 19, 2015, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade will begin on Broadway at 11th Street, turning right on Grand Avenue, and right on Harrison to Lakeside Drive, ending on Oak and proceeding to the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center for the Rally.

Fans can begin to line up for the Rally as early as 5:00 a.m. at Lakeshore and 12th Street.

BART will run extra trains through Oakland all day and will modify routes to accommodate parade and rally attendants. Pay close attention to signage and BART employee directions.
