Car strikes bus in Antioch, killing the driver, injuring others, Thursday morning

This morning, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at approximately 5:45 a.m. Antioch Police responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Davison Drive and Burwood Way. The preliminary investigation a Tri Delta Transit bus collided with a passenger car at that intersection, and the force of the collision ejected the adult male driver of the passenger car from his vehicle. Con-Fire also responded and subsequently pronounced the driver of the passenger car deceased at the scene.

1:53 PM UPDATE: Each of the Tri Delta buses are equipped with video cameras and a subsequent review of the video by the Antioch Police determined the car hit the bus.

At the time of the collision the bus was occupied by several passengers who were transported to local hospitals for minor injuries and complaints of pain. The bus driver remained at the scene and was fully cooperative with the police investigation.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending next of kin notification. The cause of the collision is still being investigated and at this time it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor.
