Man Shot Multiple Times in Antioch, Friday Morning

On Friday, August 1, 2014, at approximately 12:21 AM, the Antioch Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area Golf Course Road and Judsonville Drive with a male who could be heard yelling for help. When officers arrived, they located a 32-year-old male victim who had been shot several times by an unknown suspect(s).

Officers performed first aid until medical units arrived. The victim was taken to a local area hospital in serious condition, but as of this writing, is expected to survive. The case is still under investigation.

    It is uncanny but it seems that Antioch and sensational news are wedded at the hip. This fellow was a Purple Heart recipient who was given a home in the Judsonville area under the “Homes 4 Wounded Heroes” program. A happy ending after he ran into a land mine then cascaded into this tragedy.

    It seems that every time we see good news we can expect to get hit not only by negative news but by these kinds of headline-grabbers (recent ones being 12 shootings in, what was it, 12 days; being recognized as a ‘stressed city’ and ranking 4th on most violent CA. cities.

    Almost a hex.
