Following pursuit and crash, Antioch police arrest three for stealing car

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 4:52 AM, an Antioch police officer attempted a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle and the driver refused to stop. The officer pursued the stolen vehicle for several miles. As the stolen vehicle approached the intersection of Lone Tree Way and Davison Drive, the driver of the stolen vehicle entered the intersection against a red light. The stolen vehicle collided with three other vehicles in the intersection. The driver and the two occupants of the stolen vehicle, which included two adult males and one adult female, fled the scene on foot and were later apprehended.
An occupant of a vehicle involved in the collision sustained an injury as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital. The occupants of the other two vehicles involved in the collision were not injured.
there should be some serious discussions about the efficiency of high speed pursuit. what is more important, catch a car thief, or have injured, innocent victims?????
It seems that criminals are trying their hands at every method of crime in Antioch.
I have confidence the police can use good decision making in what is a safe or unsafe pursuit and the execution of such a pursuit.
We should applaud the Antioch police for sending a clear message that car thieves will not be tolerated in Antioch.
It’s good to see these miscreants apprehended by the police versus police just taking a report from the victim. It may even result in getting some violent felons of our streets.
As for a car thief running a red light under pursuit… We have traffic violator problems in this town. If you spend any time driving around Antioch you will see a frightening number of cars running red lights that are not being pursued by the police. Not to mention the Lone Tree and Hillcrest traffic speeds exceeding 10 – 15 miles over the speed limit.
